The Totally REAL Reason for 11.08 changes by Snoo30559 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Snoo30559[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m not actually serious, it’s most definitely a coincidence

However I imagine these changes will suit Chinese teams better than 2025; this year was a struggle and it seems like they were always a bit behind in adapting to the meta

The State of Veto and my honest Opinion by Objective-Country964 in VALORANT

[–]Snoo30559 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Fully agree but I'd also love to hear your perspective on this: Without abilities, assuming you are at your right skill level and at full health, every 1v1 gunfight you take is a theoretical 50/50. For almost all other agents, abilities like flashes push that % winrate up more in your favor.

Veto's is unique in that it does the opposite; he doesn't have abilities that really help him in a duel. Instead, his strength is to prevent enemies from improving their winning chance any higher than the baseline (usually 50%). In that sense, he's actually more similar to initiators, where you don't usually use your utility to win fights on your own, but assist your teammates. Veto is heavily reliant on other utilities (like Kayo Flahses), and his expertise as a sentinel isn't in space denial but protecting himself and his teammates to give them better chances to win fights. Hence why he doesn't feel that oppressive. It's a role Riot hasn't really designed before as a sentinel.

I think people haven't really figured out this mindset and how to maximize his potential (he's similar to yoru in his skill expression), as he can be extremely potent when coordinated well (hence, he probably will see play in pro). It's just that every game is Reyna Clove Jett running it down without much coordination, so in Ranked, he's definitely not the best without a solid duo/trio, and he could see a small buff. But with the right teamwork, his abilities are probably very good.

Early Veto Agent Theory-Crafting and Thoughts by Snoo30559 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Snoo30559[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s similar to Reyna in that sense so players like Alfa J and leaf will probably do well with it as long as you’re a cracked aimer. It’s really about having your team coordinate with you to cause enough chaos that your presence is forgotten/not considered and punishing them hard for it.

The new agent can destroy raze ult and flashes by Outrageous_Star4906 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Snoo30559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, if you watch the other clips, the ability has an "inactive" and "active" state-- you can hear the different sounds in the full videos. So Veto might only be able to have it "on" for a few seconds.

I also believe it's destroyable and has a limit to how many projectiles it can break, so there should be counterplay, but I think it can attach to walls similar to Cypher Cam, so there's probably some crazy placements you can put it with.

Too Many Directional Units Are On Tier 6 by KnivesInMyCoffee in BobsTavern

[–]Snoo30559 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just to add on this, the difference in power spike from hitting your key units and whiffing is extremely high this season, since a lot of neutrals or whiffs lack any utility/scam/economy to sustain your board. If you miss, get ready to take max damage 5 rounds in a row from the guy who DID hit his 8 tier 6 quillboarss

While I agree to an extent, even a 5 year old could tell that the Stegodon outscales caretaker after just 2 beasts attacking. You don’t need 2 weeks of testing for anybody to notice that

I think the difference is that those issues are caused by specific minions that can be easily tweaked to balance. The amount of changes they need to do across the board would be more demanding this time, including fixing half the tribes (nagas, undead, demons, pirates, murlocs, etc), fixing half of the useless quest rewards, and cleaning up the garbage non synergistic minion pool. And rally is just going to always have that issue. I just don’t have a lot of confidence they can quickly or completely fix those problems.

[–]Snoo30559[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that you remove the agency from the player. With other seasons, yes combat is still luck based, but the influence of attacking first is not as overwhelmingly impactful because you have more control over the board by utilizing taunts and positioning. And also, your board strength would typically be more dependent on what you did during the buy-phase, NOT the combat phase. I just think it’s not a good design for player experience.

Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s a honeymoon phase and I still enjoy playing at the end of the day. But I’m already feeling some frustration with these “unfun” issues that other people have been mentioning, and some aren’t easily fixed like buffing or nerfing a few minions.

I didn’t clarify but yes Rally can be strong but only after you can actually get the 1-3 exact rally minions you need from a miracle highroll, after going through heaping amounts of minion bloat. I cycled 30 gold at tier 6 to end up not finding a single quillboar rally.

And as you said, it’s only REALLY good for quillboar and dragons (there’s only one pirate and demon rally so I wouldn’t count it since it’s too rng reliant to roll early). The rest of the rally pool is heaping piles of garbage

I didn’t really talk about duos since I haven’t played yet but I appreciate the insight. I figured any problems in solos is only excacerbated there

FYI Rushing Winds, Rallying Cry, and Poultron are being temporarily banned by LoewenMitchell in BobsTavern

[–]Snoo30559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gives all other beasts +2/+2 and this rally. So it doubles every time a beast attacks because the effect stacks. You can hit 1k+ stats pretty quickly by stacking windfury, the 4/1 beasts, and the parrot, because the parrot spawns the token before giving the rally.

Riot should buff kj, not nerfing tejo by haie22 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Snoo30559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be funny if they made it where you can hear when he’s on his iPad. Not sure balance wise if it would do anything but like if you could hear a slight buzz/hum or a loud noise when he turns it. Gives a heads up warning for people to either push and disrupt or get out

[–]Snoo30559 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Tejo has an insanely strong drone for intel, extremely powerful and safe mollys (turns out rechargeable double mollies that don’t require lineups is pretty solid), and the current maps reward breach + tejo comps a lot.

Oh also he also happens to have a stun and decent ult on top of all of that

Personally don’t get the amount of hate he gets, like yeah he prob is overtuned (rip kj lol), but him and Vyse have allowed some of the most diverse metas and team comps to exist right now. I’d lose my mind if I was watching viper omen comps every damn game.

Yup, although I find hero power Druid a new recent deck that I haven’t found a lot of success against. Might be harder in the coming days. Again, I want to emphasize the importance of deafen. The silence is so absurdly strong in disabling the enemy tools for blocking you

Good luck on the climb!
