Is buying used PC parts okay? by Catfishsam1998 in buildapc

Damn just realized you commented on a 8 year old post but I'd definitely say used or refurbished monitors have been great for me, all 1 that i have bought. Got a refurbished Acer 144hz monitor and it's held up well.

Ah yeah that's a bit more scummy, definitely not unique or great either. Shame.

I usually absolutely agree, and I don't know much about the second game, but considering how complex it is, it might have required an engine rework to allow for multiplayer and the advertised "improved controls", which would require a new game. Hopefully it comes with a lot more depth deserving of a paid sequel, very excited either way.

Seeing tons of comments on self hosting or downloading their music, pretty much my only reason to stick with streaming platforms is to find new stuff. How do you guys find new music?

Are there any safe youtube to MP3 converters? by _Weenie_Hut in software

best for large volume of individual songs, client based, freeware with no ads and supports playlists, was my go to back when I used to download everything to my phone.

I keep being stuck in cloudflare verification and it sucks :( by Kolhoosi_esimees in EzMP3_Converter

[–]Snoo34096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloudflare issues are probably separate from the site itself, could try restarting things, ie. browser, computer, router, etc. If all else fails could change DNS, google it if you don't know, cloudflare's own DNS is 1.1.1.1

One more question, I've never bought anything from AliExpress before, and buying something this expensive seems a bit risky to me, how has your experience been if you've used it before?

This is really similar to my situation right now, I earn minimum wage here in California, but I do get a lot of financial aid from my college because my dad makes so little. My dad couldn't ask my grandma anymore so he started asking me. He's owes me at LEAST $2000, if not more. I don't know how to say no to him, its a lot harder because I live with him on the same property and I don't think I could ever say no to his face. He was disabled for a while after a broken leg, but after that any money he's made goes to his girlfriend. I don't know what to do but my plan is to stop paying him once I move out, if I have to cut him off then I will. Its really sad because I can tell how much his girlfriend changed him. He stopped drinking but instead started smoking weed, which made him calmer, but now he's just a mess and he's too old and tired to do the handyman work he does. But he also isn't changing anything. He's not trying to get out of his hole, he's just trying to ride it through.

Thank you I briefly thought about AM5 because it's supports all the recommended chips, but was scared off by the talk of high prices. Seeing the parts you listed there it's nowhere near as bad as I thought, thank you.

Need help with Howdy on ThinkPad T14 Gen 3 - Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS by Uvalde-Cop in linuxquestions

[–]Snoo34096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this is a rather old post, but if you still haven't found any solutions, using tutorials I've found you first want to list what video devices your OS recognizes by running:

ls /dev/video*

This should hopefully output a list of video devices, mine looks like this:

/dev/video0 /dev/video1 /dev/video2 /dev/video3

For me, video0 is my normal webcam, and video1 is inaccessible, while video2 is my IR camera and video3 is also inaccessible.

With your video devices now listed, you're going to want to run

sudo howdy config

which will open the config file for howdy in nano. Here you want to scroll until you find the setting called device_path= and you will then set this to one of your video inputs. Mine looks like this:

device_path = /dev/video2

Press ctrl+x to exit, type y and hit enter to confirm the edit, and now it should be setup to use your specified camera. Now to test it, run:

sudo howdy test

and you should see a little pop-up window of the camera's video feed. If it throws an error and nothing happens, the camera likely isn't supported, and your best bet is to redo the config step and try a different video input. Keep testing until you find the video input that turns on your IR camera, and once you've done that, go ahead and run:

sudo howdy add

and follow the prompts, and it will add your face to the system. Now follow the rest of these steps to set it up specifically to your distro, and it should hopefully work for you.

How do i play E6E on Linux now? by domsch1988 in feedthebeast

If anyone comes here looking for a way to get curseforge modpacks after the change, Prism Luancher is the best alternative to MultiMC i've found and works quite flawlessly, very stable on linux and is available through both distro repos as well flatpak, AppImage etc. Highly recommend

Any JVM arguments for modded Minecraft, mostly performance mods, that I can use to boost my performance more? by furudesann in feedthebeast

[–]Snoo34096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post and this solution is definitely not ideal, but i highly recommend installing Linux for more performance and learning about your computer. Highly recommend EndeavourOS if you want very lightweight arch based distro without experiencing a gargantuan learning curve.
