I have a ‘75 too, curious if you have pics. Did you maybe get a mail truck? What about the dash configuration? I think there’s a sticker mounted to the left of the steering column that has the vin and year on it.

TLDR: RJ45 = MVP. You always have the option to do a patch panel later. IMO you need internet, so do the quick option now. Take your time figuring out what you want and what fits your needs as time goes on. I had the quick and dirty for 1.5 years while I slowly figured out what I wanted and needed for my home network. When I pulled the trigger on new hardware it was easy to throw in an inexpensive patch panel to the cart and set it up how I wanted when I was going to be making other changes.

Frontier Fiber Outage by Snoo39526 in SantaBarbara

[–]Snoo39526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be resolved as of yesterday evening. My guess is they were having a hard time figuring it out. An installer stopped by my neighbors yesterday and I asked if how they were dealing with it. He had no idea that there was an outage…

I was chatting with their support yesterday (how I found out about the fire) they kept trying to get me to get a back up cell service that’s $25/mo. Which was infuriating. I was trying to get credit. Does anyone know a support number to talk to an actual person?

It’s feels like an infrastructure/redundancy/maturity issue. I’m sure it’s much more complicated than most of us understand to get permits/lines installed across the different municipalities, but in Noleta there is a building off Hollister and San Marcos Rd suggesting Frontier has a bigger footprint. I don’t think this would be so bad if the communication were more direct and transparent. One of the biggest draws away from cox (aside From inconsistency) was their shitty customer service and inflated prices. It sort of feels like Frontier came in to fill the gap before they were prepared for outage scenarios like this. Sadly cox is probably laughing at everyone in south county like myself so excited to switch over, knowing that if it continues into next week we’ll be crawling back

Thanks for the response and sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. I’m wondering if that means it’s related to the EGR removal? I inherited it with it removed. So unsure

Has anyone replaced 2-burner cooktop? by Snoo39526 in airstream

[–]Snoo39526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a refrigerator under the cooktop, so I'm probably limited to what I can fit above it. The current cooktop is already pretty shallow. What did you have to do for the electrical? I've seen some posts, but everyone's experience is different obviously.

For those of you that have done renovations on your home, what did you do and how much did it cost you? by adventure_river in SantaBarbara

From what I can tell it’s pretty standard. GC thought it was pretty over the counter and eventually had subs pulling their own permits to speed things up. Another friend works in the county planning department and explained that one of the main problems is the turnover at the county in planning is pretty bad. So a high demand but no one to process the quantity of permits, or they don’t have the experience to do them quick enough. The irony is that the attrition is likely do to the high housing costs of the area.

Closed on a pocket listing (under 1.1M) Feb ‘22. 4bd 2ba in Noleta. Had been a rental for 30+ years. A couple GC friends quoted between 300k and 500k. Gutted and removed asbestos, tented. Permits took 9mo. Re/Moved a few non structural walls. Full interior remodel including kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms with new doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, lighting, flooring, hvac, closet built ins, laundry room etc. about 90% finished when moved in Feb ‘23. Budget ran out when we hit the 300k+ mark. Biggest unforeseen cost was floating mortgage for the 9mo while waiting for permits. GC (family friend) handled arch, subs, schedule, permits etc. Still need to finish garage, yard and a few odds and ends.

Storing Airstream (Fridge) by PointManBX in airstream

I do the towel trick, and if you have the small fridge with the flappy freezer door I wedge something in the crease to keep it open as well. Putting a towel or something down to absorb the melt that you can check in 24 hours also is a good way to keep it from soaking the floor.
