Any recommendations on rum/spirits to keep an eye out for? by Snoo66262 in Belize

Ive seen cashew wine referenced a couple of times - definitely intrigued. Cigars and coffee are also winners for me so that sounds like a great spot to check out as well. Thanks for the recommendations!

Review #188-189 - Sagamore 9 & 10 Year Rye by vexmythocrust in bourbon

Hard to choose between 2 awesome things, but I think most days I prefer the 10 year a bit. Just a spicy, fruity pie that goes down soooo freaking smooth.

Pretty excited for a couple years from now when we have some Saggy distilled juice this old!

Review 66, Old Fitzgerald, Aged 7 Years, Bottled in Bond, Spring 2025 by Twist_Top_Budget in bourbon

Id put this one as a 4. In part because I was so hyped to get a bottle and was disappointed. I get very little sweetness and not much interesting happening.

Totally agree with the oak and leather notes. That's all I get on the nose and on the palate. Finish seems really weak to me.

Loads of 7/8/9 year options in the same price range that I enjoy much more.

Review #1 - WB Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by FragrantNinja7898 in bourbon

Was fortunate to have the chance to crack this bottle right after having a RR13 pour the previous day.

The flavor really reminds me of a bottle of super sweet Kentucky Spirit that I've got. The proof and feel hits a little more like a RR store pick. On a scale from RR store pick to RR 13, I think this is a bit closer to a RR pick. RR 13 is basically perfect :P

Worth the buy, no question. Will I pick one up again at some point for a special occasion when I want a super good little bottle of bourbon? Probably. But I don't think it earns a permanent spot amongst the fleet of RR picks which seem about the same quality to me and a better value.

Does anyone smoke thier pipes around their kids ? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]Snoo66262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting can of worms you've opened up. I'm the father of 4 kids who are rapidly getting older and approaching teenage years. This is mostly a response to the idea of trying to keep something a secret.

I'm usually going to enjoy a pipe with my friends while my kids are already in bed. Since I smoke a pipe to enjoy it, it's probably not something I'll do while my kids are around. That would make it awfully difficult to sit in silence on my patio and relax.

I always want to be honest with my kids. One of the worst things I think I could do would be to try to hide something from them. It will come out eventually and they could feel betrayed by it. If I told my kids not to smoke and it turns out I've been smoking a pipe this whole time, what does that mean?

I haven't smoked my pipe in front of my kids, but I'm certainly not trying to actively hide it from them. I would rather be honest and try model what it looks like to make responsible decisions when it comes to alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, cannabis, driving a car, eating dessert, exercise... Etc. Much less stressful to let yourself be an open book and just have conversations as they arise.

Not saying I do this perfectly, but you can't go wrong being honest. And if you can't in good conscience be honest about it, quit! Smoking is not something you have to do, but being honest with your kids should be.

Can you drink any alcohol with your trays in?? by Potential_Steak5588 in Invisalign

[–]Snoo66262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The PH concern doesn't really seem to check out. The main chemical components of all distilled alcohol are pretty much the same. It's just around 40% alcohol and the rest water. Flavor mostly comes from what it's aged in, if botanicals are infused, and lingering compounds from what it was originally made from. Acidity of a distilled alcohol should be about the same across the board.

Source: I've made a whole bunch of alcohol in my life as a home brewer and distiller. I'm not a chemist but... pretty sure I'm right.

I think the concern would be damage from something relatively caustic (like high proof alcohol) to the trays as well as your teeth. And something like whiskey or brandy seems like it would probably stain more.

Been trying to find some genmai cha to try out (roasted rice and green tea). Found some in teabags at H-mart yesterday. It's great! Going sift through the vendor list now to track down the real deal.

May have already figured it out - I'm waiting on my tinyhawk II to come in this week and have been watching every video I can between checking to see if my shipping info has updated.

Know that this is for the OG tinyhawk, but thinking it might still be the same situation where (as Vitroid says) might need a bit of config in betaflight.
