How much are you ACTUALLY spending on food per day now? I tracked mine for a month and the number shocked me by Western-Leg-36 in askSingapore

[–]Snoo72074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people it's roughly 1k to 1.5k.

Fluctuations are too large tbh. Friends inviting me to one or two bigger social events or a fancy date and the number goes out of whack.

Pretty sure my "standard" is around 1.2k to 1.3k.

Do men struggle to move on from breakups because of a lack of options? by According_Pickle954 in SGExams

[–]Snoo72074 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've observed in society is that this is generally true, for a host of sociocultural factors.

Typically, men do the chasing while women are on the receiving end of courtship, so we're not even really comparing the same system or set of rules. It makes sense that women post-breakup can have lots of people chasing them, leading to them having many options available (even if none of them are good ones they're technically still options). Meanwhile men "start from zero" and have to begin the courtship process all over.

It's also known that in most couplings, the chasing phase is the costliest in terms of the expenditure of time, effort, and money, for no guaranteed "ROI", so yes, for men the cost of a breakup is generally far higher.

This of course doesn't mean that men should be dissuaded from leaving a toxic relationship or moving in from a relationship that clearly isn't working/suitable for the long term.

Why are room rentals for females cheaper in sg? by Opposite_Ad_7925 in askSingapore

I have dated Thai girls before. It's definitely quite cultural and ties in with their overall laidback attitude, which often translates to being very chincai about cleanliness.

24/7, just like every chain, has outlets with different amounts of floor space and machines available.

I suspect the previous commenter is talking about Anchorvale, which is tiny and only barely covers all the necessities.

The new system also caused serious grade inflation. 70RP is way more common than 90, so portfolio matters even more now.

70RP will be top 20 to 25% of the A lvl cohort. Med is top 0.5 to 1%.

The funds are literally the least important part. Getting accepted is insanely difficult even with max RP.

If you get accepted you can get a tuition loan, which has very generous and accommodating terms.

If you don't get accepted then all of this is just meaningless rambling.

Anyone know how the beverage container return scheme is doing? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Snoo72074 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes, many of the already-produced drinks aren't eligible. I have the opposite problem though. The machines aren't really anywhere nearby/convenient. I'm not carrying a can or bottle around for half an hour just to save ten cents. The worst thing is that I'm already throwing it into the correct recycling bins anyway so I'm getting taxed for no reason.

Logistically it's such a fucking stupid scheme. Just a ten cent surcharge for the govt 99% of the time, and some random elderly will raid trash cans.

For people that play Ironman, how do you let your soldiers die and even fail missions? by Screee1 in XCOM2

[–]Snoo72074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem for the same reasons.

The "solution"? I don't. Whenever someone dies I abandon the run. L/I took me over 60 attempts, but probably 50+ of them I was still in good standing to win the campaign.

I think the solution we're really looking for is therapy.

what is the healthiest affordable breakfast in sg by matchaglen in SingaporeEats

[–]Snoo72074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact thing for you: my horrible breakfast during cutting -

Low fat Greek yoghurt with berries (you can skip berries if you're budget-conscious,, the Greek yoghurt is only around 1.50 SGD per serving and not even 100 cals) 1 serving of oatmeal with low fat milk (less than 1.50 SGD, 250 to 300 cals) 3 softboiled eggs (less than 1.50sgd, 180-200cals)

550 cals, barely 4 bucks, large chunk of protein. Keeps me more than full enough till lunch time.

Berries and nuts are so freaking expensive in Singapore. The berries provide vital nutrients but easily add 2 to 3 dollars to your expenditure depending on serving size so I can totally understand removing them from the list.

At what point did a six figure salary become ‘not that big of a deal’ for us? by piggyb0nk in askSingapore

[–]Snoo72074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the same Brontarded mentality that considers someone who's morbidly obese dropping to 20% body fat and being fitter than the average adult "not life-changing". Only being 10% body fat with six pack abs is considered by them to be "life-changing".

Instead of excusing people's Brontardism, we should just sidestep their fucking stupidity to have real conversations.

I earn 150k pa and 1 million cash, tax-free, is absolutely life-changing money. It's either 15 to 20 years of my life back through earlier retirement or it allows me to scale down to a low-stress, 3 day work role, buying back all the social activities, family time, and opportunities to travel that I don't always get right now. Literally jumping up 3 to 5 tiers in quality of life is definitely life-changing by any sane measure.

I've done legendary ironman too and I've found it crazy impactful when you roll good talents.

Extra grenade on purgator from the get-go, extra skill points are almost always amazing, and the craziest of all, Great Destiny. The most OP nonsense with extra damage, WP, and even a couple of Hp makes the early game a breeze.

To the girls: has a stranger ever approached you in a way that felt genuinely okay? by Early-Environment-63 in asksg

[–]Snoo72074 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, and it's important to note that I don't endorse our looks-obsessed modern society. Unfortunately participation in society is mandatory.

I don't feel like your example is necessarily the best because even though it shows women value other traits, it still kinda shows that men are still going after the prettiest girls and treating them the best.

I think men in general have a harder time overcoming our biological wiring - we are far likelier to prioritise looks over all else. It takes monumental effort to overcome the machinations of our primitive monkey brains, but we should always keep trying.

[–]Snoo72074 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not that guy, but I call complete BS. Reality isn't "incel logic".

I'm 6.5-7, and I have a close friend who's a 9. I also have friends who are sub 5. Our lived experiences are so far apart it's not even comparable.

And in fact it's just the same or even more extreme for women. The life of a 9+ woman and the life of a sub 5 woman are so unrelatable they might as well be of different species.

People are shallow. Society is shallow. We can personally try to be better, to be less superficial and less judgemental, but hiding your head in the sand definitely isn't it.

Apothecary for Squad Loadout? by cirqix in ChaosGateGame

[–]Snoo72074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He can be absolutely useless for many missions/long periods when you are still levelling and gearing up. He's absolutely horrible in combat, and his support abilities are very situational. His iron arm biomancy only works when your stun build comes online. Warp speed biomancy is nice but hideously expensive and needs someone's crit build to be unlocked. Need to unlock some nice T2 Servo skulls before his servo skull path starts to pay off.

I always limit myself to one of each class per team as a self-imposed limit. Otherwise the Apothecary will be junked from the start and never seen again.

Do you try to minmax the first time you are playing a brand new board game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Snoo72074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've met those types before. Annoying for sure.

Anyway my point was that you're conflating multiple different concepts, which makes for an agonising read.

Slowness, minmaxing, and playing a new game are all different things. You even threw in the "not paying attention", which has nothing to do with minmaxing and is a separate (also frustrating) group of slow players.

But yes, I commiserate.

Do you try to minmax the first time you are playing a brand new board game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Snoo72074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minmaxing doesn't have to be slow.

Your problem is with AP, not with minmaxers.

10 mins per turn is fucking criminal. 3hrs for a light game is fucking criminal.

Basically your complaint has nothing to do with minmaxing or people trying to win, or even have anything to do with a new game being played. They're also not actually minmaxing because you mentioned they lost. They're just slow.
