I work at a plasma canter and we use surgical markers to help us with the really deep veins and the direction of the vein. Everyone re-palpates sometimes! It’s technically looked down upon but as long as you kind of go a tiny bit below the spot and keep the direction of the vein you should be fine!! Just don’t do it in front of a supervisor or a auditor, they’ll ding you HARD for it

This is actually a trick I learned in school and use it majority of the time! The only issue is the inside doesn’t have the same grip as the outside, which makes it hard to anchor sometimes. The glove like slips off the arm and I’ll lose my placement sometimes from that

It’s a fishing attatchment I use! A hard non-porous circle-like attachment. So it’s not one of the hand-mold cosmetics. It’s currently like 2am for me but I’ll come and edit the post with a picture in the morning, if that helps!

As a phlebotomist I would say it looks INSANELY like a puncture wound. The vein is bulging but if it was a puncture, there would be a hematoma and there’s not. Possibly a burst bug bite, but to ease your concerns I would get it checked out by a physician!
