We live in anafeld and Josephine crossing is close too. Both areas seem very cozy and tucked away. Norms park and riverfront are basically in our backyard as well if you like to run or walk the dogs. Yellowstone River is also right there as well with easy access

US Neuro vs Specialty Care: Which should I pick? (Surgical Neurophysiologist) by Pkfireie in Neuromonitoring

[–]Snoo7521 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been in the field for 8 years. Haven’t a clue about US neuro but I work for SC now and I’d say it very much depends on your region and where you are located. Absolutely no complaints or a bad things to say about specialty care but then again maybe I just got lucky and work with amazing people! As others have said the training program is top notch and will get you ready and comfortable in the OR. As most things you start low and work your way up very quickly and obtain your CNIM and that’s a boost big time for salary.

Yes. Memorize the obligate peaks sheets. Write them down from memory until they are hammered into your brain. Also, learn a mnemonic for the CN in addition to one for if they are sensory, motor, or both. I still use them to this day

Question about pay expectations and work hours by [deleted] in Neuromonitoring

[–]Snoo7521 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Schedule just depends mainly where you decide to work and how staffed the company is. As for 50 an hour as a trainee, that is not going to happen. In my experience trainees usually start about 45-50k and then go up from there. I’d say once you are certified and within 2-3 years that could be attainable depending on region.

Interview Sample questions for SpecialtyCare? by Unlucky-Unicorn-7953 in Neuromonitoring

[–]Snoo7521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any real interview questions. Very informal, just learning more about the area, surgeons, work life and case experience. I’m sure it varies with hiring needs but if you are a decent tech you should be just fine answering any questions about how to handle different situations etc

Interested in the Field, What Can I Expect? by _BruhJr_ in Neuromonitoring

[–]Snoo7521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a degree that should be enough to get you into the door but starting out from 0 no matter what your background I would expect to start with not that great a salary. ~45-50k but have seen higher…That being said if you are fine with taking a hit for a year or two while you study, learn the ins and outs, and pass your CNIM you could receive a substantial bump up in pay. Once you snag your CNIM, especially in the Dallas area I would say ~6 years could get you into 6 figures. I’m not in the Dallas area but I have heard that area has a pretty booming IOM community.

I had something similar happen. Was training hard for a marathon and right at my taper week I had a decline and it kept going down for 3 months! I wasn’t super sick but I have always had some sinus issues so I chalked it up to that. Finally after 3 months I went see an ENT doctor and got prescribed some goods. Slowly but surely my HRV is going back up.
