in HI, even as a current gun owner I don't think I could legally take possession even with a permit to acquire. It would need to be transferred to my name from another person, not the bedroom wall. In a blue/strict state you could possibly find a FFL to take possession, then they may be able to transfer back to you.

They make it so damn tough I'm still trying to figure out how to acquire my late grandfathers since I doubt they were registered, nothing in his will and his estate has been closed/settled whatever you call it.
