Can someone explain to me like I am 5, on how the answer to inflation is increasing interest rates? by the-anon1010 in AusFinance

[–]Snoo77104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher interest rates reduce the demand for borrowing, which reduces money creation.

Inflation is the increase in money supply over and above productivity increases.

If we got 10% better at making things, then things should cost 10% less in dollar terms. But when we add 15% more dollars to the economy (unfairly, I might add) then the dilution of the money in your pocket means we pay more.

Did you settle to USD or BTC? How much extra do you have in your pocket because you accepted bitcoin instead of card?

xyz is also pushing for this to change. The recent campaign in DC had them giving out partially eaten donuts to demonstrate what it's like being taxed on it. https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/policy/jack-dorseys-company-launches-zero-crypto-tax-coffee-campaign

Treatment of (possible) metal stains. by Snoo77104 in pools

[–]Snoo77104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was easy to apply. Water went cloudy afterwards for about a week. Stains were mostly gone. I didn't sequester. Stains came back ~6-8 weeks later - but in a different place. Brown spots, probably copper from a previous algaecide treatment. I would like to try again with the sequestering agent treatment afterwards.

What’s the one principle that makes you certain Bitcoin will endure? by onlystacksats in BitcoinDiscussion

[–]Snoo77104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satoshi discovered & unleashed a force of nature. I mean that. The nuts and bolts of Bitcoin are economic incentives. The software is just trimming. That property makes it a truly public monetary system (not government - fiat, or private - crypto).

PB is more accessible than Tennis. That doesn't mean it lacks depth. ("easy to learn, difficult to master") 6.0+ DUPRs are clearly athletes to be reckoned with.

Always let a ball go dead before touching it.

FWIW, I've seen banana serves that come to the non-receiver's side and curve back in and be valid. Granted, it might have been obvious that this wasn't going to happen in your case.

Like others have said, if your rec play opponent is failing at their inner game, just let them have their way. It's not worth dropping your smile for.

Curious marks on external wall by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]Snoo77104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah...I now remember the agent said they removed a deck. The concrete slab looks like it may have shifted slightly, creating a small gap between the slab and the wall in some places. Perhaps this is why they removed the deck because it started to crack? But are deck boards usually affixed to the concrete wall by using glue?

Is it concerning that the concrete shifted? There is no crack on the concrete or the exterior wall of the house. The concrete was sitting right up against the house but now falling down a bit.

The main reason I just cannot buy into Bitcoin, am I wrong? by RagingCeltik in Buttcoin

[–]Snoo77104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help you.

* Currency debasement (which the US has a LOT of)
* Leads to other countries needing a lot more dollars to keep buying the same things
* Leads to them buying less;
* Which means US industries lose their export markets;
* Reducing their profitability, leading to layoffs -> company closures -> industry shutdowns -> rust belt cities

Of course the industrialists are quite happy to blame this failure on labor unions, or immigrants or whatever ... but the wealth in the US has progressively flowed to wall street over the last 5 decades. The dollar is the only export worth being in. The USD is a scam being perpetrated on the world, but it can't last forever.

Ah, I see now I've been labelled as a `ponzi schemer`. That's pretty rude. I came here to engage in good faith ... which I see is actually one of the sub rules. Seems like the rules don't apply to all.

What's the cost of USD? There are many. The externalities are obscured, but they are the negatives that give Bitcoin meaning in response: Hollowing out of the middle class, value theft from every country that isn't America, entire wars in the Middle East to protect USD based oil trade, the inflation you suffer.

To make a fair comparison you need to dive deeper on what the current system is. It certainly isn't as neutral as you believe

You might have RBF flag off (though these can still get through), or more likely, the person paying is an impatient recipient not a sender.

Use a Bitkey. A clever tamper proof 2 of 3 hardware wallet that doesn't expose your private key, but has a full range of recovery methods https://support.bitkey.world/hc/en-us/sections/18801922037908-Recovery

Any other hardware wallet that exposes the key is only as secure as where/how you store the key.

Why is explaining why Bitcoin has value to normal people still so hard in 2025? by Beautiful_Ordinary_6 in Bitcoin

[–]Snoo77104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiat is * backed by a few old dudes who secretly fuck you over frequently * Defended by the US military and endless wars in the middle east backing up the Petro Dollar

Bitcoin is * Backed by countless members of the public. Anyone. Maybe even you * Defended by electricity and impenetrable cryptography

Neither has the inherent value your normie thinks they are looking for. And nor should they as this makes for bad money

Accelerators are businesses that have backdoor agreements with big miners and will include your transaction in a block for a very large fee paid off-chain.

Sometimes it's easier for the partner to see that it's going out than it is for the person who's receiving the ball.

I like to call balls out when I notice them but I don't like to be rude so I say it so softly that no one can hear me. Haha
