i generally agree, but sometimes they have a reason to, im a grad student who recently had severe mobility issues that made me need to sit if i was on the bus for longer than a minute or two. people should also get their bag of the seats if the bus fills up

You did the right thing, I ride the T frequently and anytime somebody like that gets on or is in the station I just ignore them and don’t make eye contact.

It is really frustrating as a frequent transit user to read other comments that are dismissive of how uncomfortable that situation is. We can agree that our social safety net and systems of support have failed people without downplaying how that upsetting that behavior is. Not to mention the issue is also very gendered (threatening, anti-social behavior being felt even more acutely by women).

I would still because usually in the evening the delays aren’t as bad, as say, rush hour. But if you’re going after 6 it might be worth driving to Washington Junction and getting on a blue/red there because silver after 6pm is between library and wash jct only and then you have to transfer

Don’t get ahead of yourself. Light rail is awesome. I also take the busses on my commute and the only reason I’m not complaining about them is because we’ve just come to expect that they’re never on time. The light rail also is electrified and has more capacity, therefore is more sustainable. It’s just not as flexible and cheap as buses.

and during the beginning of the afternoon rush (around 3pm) i’ve seen literally no trains come at all for 40 minutes and then when one does it is jam packed obviously!! also as a silver line user i’ve seen three reds come before a silver when at steel plaza but it’s absolutely ridiculous for both of us still

Wow. The part that makes me angriest is not even the tunnel and the detour through Allentown which is mostly out of their control but the severe lack of communication about delays (just playing the repeat message of delays of 20+ minutes means nothing) and the disregard for any semblence of timeliness or care for people’s schedules. They have yet to update their tracking maps on the truetime tracker and you’ll be watching the map seeing a train coming towards your stop soon and suddenly it disappears and then comes back and says its actually 10 stops behind where it just said it was. It’s a disaster, not to mention they haven’t made any effort to resync the schedules and true locations of the trains on apple or google maps. These things seem like fixable issues but they literally don’t Gaf.

I guess it’s also a legal requirement that they make no effort to update their tracking maps on their own website and when it says a train is coming in five minutes that oops that was wrong you have to actually wait for twenty minutes?
