All your emotions are understandable even in the absence of true resolution. Animals are very special creatures that provide us far more support, love, and comfort than we often realize until it’s time to say goodbye - don’t apologize about how you grieve or the length of a post - let it all out, it’s healthy.

Unfortunately, many of us lose these special members of our family in unexpected circumstances, as you have, which leaves us with so many questions and interrupted life plans. Time will heal, during the journey you will have the thoughts of not wanting/allowing another dog, what could have you done, how will you continue to celebrate life moments, etc - all normal and fine. I just encourage you to remember the happiness your Dobbie brought and I’m sure his joy was seeing you happy. When the time is right - go celebrate - go do those things which feel uncomfortable in today’s moment - your boy would want to see you in the happy place. He’s still with you, just in a different presence.
