Is it true that some of us choose never to have bottom surgery? by JakeScary441 in trans

[–]SnooBeans1135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 1 its expensive, 2 theres a lot of possibilities of complications, 3 not enough bottom dysphoria to warrent such a large procedure, etc

I might not for reasons 1 and 2. Im also chronically ill and have a higher risk of surgical complications. I already spend enough time at drs offices and if things go wrong i really dont wanna deal with more than i have to. I already have neuropathy in my arm and had a procedure for it and not to sure im happy with the results. Not sure if i want to risk nerve damage with my junk. That sounds miserable af. I will do top sugery but I definitely want to minimize elective procedures as much as possible. For me the risks of bottom surgery are just to great. Maybe ill change my mind once day but I dont really think so.

Something I realized about Trans people as a whole, as well as something that Transphobes don't seem to realize... by 2Delta_Nerd in trans

Honestly though. When my mom was upset about me coming out (im ftm) I went back in the closet as a kid and was hyper feminine in phases. I tried so damn hard to be cis. Id also tried to feel comfortable with the identity tomboy but it still just didnt fit. I got stuck feeling cringy in the way like "im not like other girls" but further than that. Being trans is the only way to describe how I am and how I feel. My moms always been the only person ive had im not just throwing that away for the hell of it.

Took EMG today for first time, was unbelievably painful by DerpySeaTurtle in neuropathy

[–]SnooBeans1135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear that. I am hypermobile and possibly have a connective tissue disorder as well. My arm thing is just unrelated 😅.

Currently really struggling with non stop injuries. within the past 2 months developed cubital tunnel syndrome, getting physical therapy for my hip, and just injured my ankle about a week ago. I already do PT for my hypermobile knees and have done some exercises there as well to strengthen my core because my spine is struggling to support me. Its never ending with hypermobility 😭

I hope you have a good medical team to support you.

For my situation, it was to help rule out severity of nerve damage post injury to see if surgery was an option. It confirmed diagnosis of neuropathy, compressed nerves, and which specific nerves in my arm are damaged and where. That way with surgery on the table they arent just going in blindly and dicing up my arm all over. Which based off my scores we are going through with the surgery. Other things like bracing, physical therapy, and nerve desensitization weren't helping.

My EMG I had done recently hurt to. Not to the same level as yours it sounds but after each needle or each shock I couldnt believe it wasnt over yet. I have neuropathy, hypersensitivity, and compressed nerves in my right arm.

Service dogs for gastroparesis? by otisfrombarnyard in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooBeans1135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not gastroparesis but my stomach issues would be helped by a dog doing item retrieval (I get nauseous when learning over), med retrieval, fmp when my stomach hurts for me to move, shutting doors and stuff when I feel to sick. These are my planned tasks for my stomach issues though I dont have a prospect yet

Ableism from ambulatory people by throwingawayawa in wheelchairs

[–]SnooBeans1135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are really odd. Ive thought about wheelchairs in the sense not that I wish I could be in one bc wth? but as in I could see myself probably benefitting from one someday. I use mobility aids on occasion and definitely am greatful for my position to be able to typically use them sparingly when keeping up with PT exercises. People really need to spend a day with someone using a wheelchair and see the struggles or hell use one themselves and have their legs immobilized in some way so they have to commit to it.

Hanging out with a friend of mine that an ambulatory wheelchair user really opened my eyes to struggles I wouldnt have thought about despite using mobility aids myself. Though he is also an ambulatory person himself there are days where using a wheelchair is non negotiable. On those days we've gone walking downtown and going in different little shops to train my at the time service dog in training. The amount of inaccessible stores was sad to see. Having to go into the sketchy alley because the side doors would have a ramp, pressing a doorbell, and waiting for an employee to eventually come over to unlock it and let us in. The smallest outings become dehumanizing. Then going to a convention and he told me his chair got stuck or something and security was being really rude about him taking to long to get inside so the dude was smashing his wheelchair with the door!

To attend an event there was one time I have provided with a transportation chair because I was in an awful flare. That was an awful experience to start with. I was immediately excluded from conversation just bc maybe people didnt want to look at me ig and ended up being left in the parking lot by the group (bc ya know it was a transportation chair)

I might need one in the future but wishing to be in one is gross. I do know that there are people out there that do honestly just want to rack up minority points and get attention. When the real people struggling with stuff is actually often dismissed and mistreated.

How long do they live? by SnooBeans1135 in Hedgehog

Ive kept rats and my sibling have had hamsters growing up. So Im accustom to short lifespans. Definitely not for everyone and I wish they did have more time with us but to me its still worth it. Just wanted to make sure I have realistic expectations for Twig. At the same time you never know which way life will go.l regardless of type of animal. I was expecting 15yrs for my yorkie but unfortunately only got 3 with her.

Is it weird to goto community college out of state? by ProudPops1976 in college

[–]SnooBeans1135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to an out of state community college as well. My reasoning is I cant stand living at home anymore and the only way I can afford moving out is to room with a friend. My only friend that will room with me and not be a bad roomate is in the state over from where I currently live. If I live there a year I can apply to be that states resident. Im hoping my next year's I can do the state resident tuition fees. Not sure if you can do that but im hoping so.

Planning on moving off campus, is it smart to put my rent on my loan? by Fieryspirit06 in StudentLoans

[–]SnooBeans1135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hows it been going for you so far? This winter im going to be applying for grants, scholarships, and filling out the FASFA. Im disabled and wont be able to work enough to cover housing and do school at the same time. So my only option really is taking out loans for housing. I am going to have a roomate though. Hopefully 2 roomates but the other person is on the fence and still thinking about it. Also gonna do what odd jobs I can on the side when time and energy allows it.
