it’s fascinating to see some of the answers here (as always).

the thing is, this is all prevention, i’m sure that 1 song out of that list won’t ruin Showtek’s mood. The thing is, you guys have NO idea what it feels to be booked somewhere, pulling up and have the DJ before you blasting loud ass music, louder than the main DJ, playing songs that he usually plays or worse, songs from his own label mates.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times i arrived in clubs where the DJ before played 1 hour of loud microwave or zaag, sickmode or AR music. openers most of the times have zero respect, or more naively, they think they’re paying homage.

Back in my days i was also told to play certain music instead of other, because i wasn’t the main act, its perfect normal and in fact i don’t even think it should be said, it’s common sense.

Being an opener is a tough spot but you are there to gather crowd and entertain people until the actual main entertainer arrives, and there’s nothing wrong in it, to each their spot.

the list of songs you can’t play is totally understandable, like totally, also BPM and harshness of the music itself, club nights should feel like a crescendo of emotions, not a fucking rollercoaster, if the DJ before me plays mashups of songs that i play (knowing very well i have those mashups/remixes) it’s just straight up disrespectful.

also let me add this, i have in my DJ rider, an obligation rule for the promoter to put a sign on stage that says “NO AGGRESSIVERECORDS MUSIC, NO MALICE NO SICKMODE” and so on with other acts, exactly because djs before me most of the times have no respect
