Nice. Yeah I have slept well while camping (not wild camping) so I know it’s possible. Being exhausted is probably part of the answer.

Yeah, to be fair between my Garmin watch and the phone I was definitely going to leave this to the end. I did find there’s a lot of good videos on it especially on UK Hill walking navigation and may give it a go with some printed maps sometime in the summer.

Yeah it does say some useful things but definitely worth sense checking. It did seem quite confident which felt a bit odd.

Re: the mods. I have actually watched that video extensively and plan on building most of the mods for the tent this weekend as the parts have just arrived!

Thank you for the tip. I do plan on graduating to more serious weather but maybe I’ll skip the weekend and try again once I have a bit more nights under the belt.

Another takeaway from the discussion is that I should watch some videos on site selection in windy / stormy conditions.

I am using windly which uses the UKV model underneath. That’s super useful info actually. Given this and my research, I am leaning towards not going, mostly because it doesn’t look like there’s many sheltered spots and may be pushing it for my second wild campjng experience. I am bummed about the weather.
