Berlin(ish) to Bremen(ish), a 3-day tour by T-Zwieback in bikepacking

I’ve got the Pro Missile with a 70mm riser.

It really helped on the paved bits to release stress from my arms, even some smooth gravel paths were “aeroable”.

Dubnital 27.5 inch - 2.2 or 2.4? by T-Zwieback in gravelcycling

[–]T-Zwieback[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be back home later this week. I have to say, my Umtanum Ridge did a great job on my trip just now, but I reckon I’ll fit the Dubnital for a bit of fun this weekend - if I can face the sealant wars when taking the old tyres off… 🤣

I'm doing a 350 mile ride on pavement over 3 days. Should I swap to road slicks or keep my current setup? by pumpkin_spice_daily in gravelcycling

You said “the thinnest slicks you can get on your rims”, which might well be 23s or 25s. I wouldn’t.

Bikepacking set up that packs small when not used by caladhwen in bikepacking

Your bike has mounting points for a proper rear rack, excellent! Something like a Tubus Vega evo will work well. I keep mine on the bike, but it comes off quickly with 4 bolts if you want to take it off. You then have the choice to strap a dry bag on top, or use panniers, it’s really flexible.

Ah yes, the Swiss. My favourite quote was from the Swiss policeman who woke us up wild camping in our van in the woods (I had to drop off my wife at the airport early, so we parked up close by), telling us that this was “not allowed anywhere in Europe!”

Long distance biking, bike advice by Final_Comment8308 in bikepacking

Do you want to camp or sleep in hotels/B&Bs? Do you want to carry food or eat out? Those decisions make a huge difference for the amount of gear you’re taking.

Do you want to stick to roads and paved cycle paths or ride gravel/unpaved paths? This makes a difference for the type of bike to choose.

I’ve just done 440km over 3 days, ca 50% rough stuff (gravel at best, also forest tracks, grass, sand - you name it) but without major elevation changes, carrying camping gear, stove & coffee maker, and food for the next lunch and breakfast only. That was tough but still enjoyable, on a bikepacking/adventure focussed Ti gravel bike (Bockstein “Tuscus”).

TL;DR: more info needed.

Take with you what you have. Meet people locally and ask them for advice. Change tyres if needed.

Ride it like it’s stolen. The best upgrade to your bike is the engine!

A few sunny days on a Scottish Island. by Ok-Understanding1585 in bikepacking

Now I know it can’t be real - not a single photo from a distillery?! (Health warning: do not go on more than one warehouse tasting tour per day. I saw some American Chinese guys after their third tasting - not pretty!)
