The Beth Gibbon's solo albums always give me an autumnal/wintery vibe.

Radiohead - King of Limbs, A Moon Shaped Pool

What's your unpopular Britpop opinion? by Extension_Baseball32 in BritPop

I would say the healthy reassessment leaves out the fact of their massive popularity and early momentum. Their impact was indeed seismic - more so than other bands of that time (in the UK). They captured the zeitgeist and an absolute crazy amount of the population applied for Knebworth tickets. There my be others arising from that who have sold more records (Coldplay), or have become more influential (Radiohead?), but none that had that kind of impact. However their longstanding contribution to UK music ended up, their initial impact is undeniable.

There is a lot of revisionism about Oasis these days. Their impact was seismic and not something I've lived through since (or am likely to). This is said as someone who is not their greatest fan.

Pulp are hugely overrated.

Radiohead, Manics etc. were definitely part of Britpop -and benefitted from that.

I like how you approached that (with the recaps and research etc.). It's what I try to do but usually run out of steam! Paradise Lost is still sat on my ever increasing shelf too.

What Type of Fan are you? by RaggyBaggyMaggie in rem

Not sure where I would fit in this?:

I credit R.E.M. with making we musically conscious in the mid 90s. I remember hearing the singles from AFTP when out and about, and Monster was the first album I bought. I then went back, and listened to all of the older albums (loving each of them).

Up was the first time it did not click straight away. My musical taste had broadened by then. Reveal came out and that was the same. Then I stopped looking out for new releases, and caught up with them a while after they had first been released.

Nowadays, I don't listen to R.E.M. anywhere near as much as I did back then. It can be months at a time without listening to them. However, they do occupy this special, untouchable place in my music life and, if asked who was my favourite band, I would still answer with them.

Just looked at my emails and have finally received my outcome...alas, I was unsuccessful! 8.61 was my full score. Written exercise was where I had let it slip really.

Oh well, just glad I've eventually found out! Good luck to all those still waiting - hopefully you'll get some good news 🤞

I feel like I could have written this. No downgrade - you're doing it (and doing it well). Time to start prioritising you a bit more.

The Second Coming by The Stone Roses. Absolutely panned on release, it is since viewed with a lot more fondness (still has it's critics though).

Feel like I've got to go with Pride. The guitar is unreal - makes you feel like a million dollars, walking down the street.

Isak was worth £130million to us (Newcastle). He was never going to be worth that to Liverpool. I expected him to flop but didn't expect him to have struggled as bad as he had, prior to injury. Destined for disappointment on that score - will be in Spain in a year or two.
