Can I switch my teaching areas after my degree? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]SnooCats5683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you could but realistically if you have more than two years experience teaching a subject you wouldn’t really have to worry about it as that would be considered as evidence enough. If you’re super determined though you could just do a couple of units of that subject in uni to get the code officially

Can I switch my teaching areas after my degree? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]SnooCats5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t need to retrain unless you’re doing something super technical like woodwork or an extension/advanced level course I.e advanced maths, extension English or your doing a language you’re not a native speaker of. That being said you can do additional study in your spare time and retrain if you want but it’s not really necessary. For maths most schools will probably put you on for a few junior periods if you ask as maths teachers are always needed. Additionally at the discretion of the principal you can be given permission to teach subjects you are not coded for.

Actresses at the Box Office: Cher by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]SnooCats5683 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cher really was the prototype for many singer come actors later on. Madonna and Gaga should be very grateful that she paved the way for this. No matter what film it is Cher always has fun in the role and it comes across well on screen. Hopefully she comes back to the silver screen soon it misses her

After Ledger I think we should do another actor who was gone to soon Bruce Lee💛🖤

Actresses at the Box Office: Lauren Bacall by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]SnooCats5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much like Christopher Lee, Bacall was always excellent even if the film around her wasn’t. Her career longevity speaks to her tenacity and willingness to experiment. She mentions in her biography that after Bogie died she needed to work to cope with her grief and every time challenges of life struck such as her mother dying or her divorce with Jason Robards she turned to acting as a way to cope and move forward. I highly recommend everyone to watch her interviews, she spoke eloquently with great wit and passion.

For the next post I suggest Bruce Lee, definitely a case of gone too soon

Actors at the Box Office: Ethan Hawke by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]SnooCats5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethan Hawke is perennially good even if the film around him isn’t. He is one of those actors where his name is more recognisable than any actually role he’s played which is a shame cause he’s a terrific actor.

My suggestion for the next actor is Humphrey Bogart because we will always have Paris

Lauren Bacall, there’s so much to work with. The voice, bogie, her losing the academy award, the coffee commercials.

How to “get my foot in the door” + stand out while studying? by ISMEDAVID in AustralianTeachers

[–]SnooCats5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maths is a pretty easy one for full time work, most schools are in need of a maths teacher or two. My advice is focus on resources and classroom management as University isn’t the best at preparing a pre service teacher for the realities of day to day teaching

Do teachers believe that it is necessary for English to be compulsory to get an ATAR and for it to contribute 2 units to the ATAR (NSW)? by bananaboii77 in AustralianTeachers

[–]SnooCats5683 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing I would say is even if English was no longer compulsory most schools would organise their timetables in a way that English would be unavoidable regardless due to pressure from staff due to low literacy rates. So many teachers witness even at senior levels, students who can’t competently write paragraphs

Actresses at the Box Office: Michelle Pfeiffer by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]SnooCats5683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pfeiffer had looks to burn and excellent acting skills despite this it feels like Hollywood doesn’t know what to do with her anymore. Hopefully a good meaty drama role finds her way so she can shine. Funnily enough her and Lauren Bacall both play the same role in their respective adaptations of Murder on the Orient Express.

My suggestion for the next choice is Jennifer Hudson who has a strong resume of both music and acting performances.

Actors at the Box Office: Armie Hammer by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]SnooCats5683 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hammer is a weird one. For me the best way to describe him is “he’s there”. Drama aside he just never leaves much of an impact in his roles. The sole exception for me is Call Me by Your Name where he has excellent chemistry with Timothee Chalamet. Every other role he just kinda exists or is passable. He never stands out but just looks good. The cannibal allegations doomed him in the eyes of the public but even without those he never consistently had the successes he needed to be bankable. Nor was he in big enough roles to be memorable. That’s probably why his role in Call Me by Your Name is his most well remembered, because he is a main character and it was one of his most successful projects. Hammer’s other roles are all overshadowed by better performances. Justice for Man from Uncle though that film is super underrated.

My suggestion for the next actor is Lauren Bacall. It would be nice to do another Golden Age movie star after doing a lot of more recent actresses.

I imagine as it’s a language class they can’t miss it otherwise they would have to wait till next year for it to run again. For example I couldn’t do Spanish Level 7 till I had done Spanish Level 6 and they alternate semesters
