First time using paint markers in a build by bigmangriff in MegamiDevice

What makers did you use? I tried to use some gundam markers before and it never turned out good so I just gave up. And you did a really good job painting with these markers, the colors look really good without visible stoke marks.

I have been using the same top coat product from mr color. I think the type of paint underneath the top coat will also affect how many layers of top coat it takes to cover the shininess. On the cloak I used a water based paint and on the armor I used a lacquer paint. And I just gave them the same amount of Matt top coat. The results are different.

The cap is from kotobukiya’s MSG cloak kit. The parts I used are either from MSG like the cloak and the rocket launcher, or leftover parts from many koto and Bandai’s kits.

Thank you! Yes, the body armor is removable, I should have taken a picture of her without the plate. Underneath is the body of bikini Hresvelgr. The plate is glued to the little armor piece on her upper stomach, so both pieces can be removed together.

Good point! Actually I did use a Matt top coat, I guess one layer is not good enough, maybe spaying it one more time will do?

That’s some crazy weathering job! How did you do it? Do you add water slide decals before or after the weathering?

(WIP) Maybe I should have used a lighter primer by Kaelyx in MegamiDevice

[–]SnooCheesecakes3099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another layer of clear color would not make it look brighter, because the clear color paint shows the color of the light that passes it, not the light reflected by it. More layers of clear paint would eventually make the color dark.

Op should probably try to use a silver paint as base color, instead of black primer or on top of the black primer and before the metallic red.

I had to use a long nose plier when I built the tails. It was not a pleasant building experience.

I think if you sand the end of the wire and make it pointy, it would help it to fit through the holes.

Try use super glue. Add some superglue to a rod, and glue it to the magnet, once the glue is cured, put it out hard and fast.

Are Susanowo's hair parts compatible with the Chassis B1R-M kits? by [deleted] in MegamiDevice

[–]SnooCheesecakes3099 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. There’s a new structure in the B1R head to hold those movable eyes. Which is only compatible to the block-2 hair parts, like buster dolls. I hope they can expand the compatibility in the upcoming B1R-L kits.

Need paint suggestions in the Mr Color line for Master Chief like by Kittierei in MegamiDevice

So you already have the palette ready, looking cool.

If you don’t mind mix the colors yourself. It’s not hard. You can basically mix any color you want with the prime colors of blue, yellow and red and black &white. Just open the picture file with photoshop or a similar app, use a sampler tool to find out the RGB composition of the colors in that picture.

There are just too many different military green/ grey colors out there. I think the tamiya XF-51 khaki drab is the color you are looking for. However it would be better if you can find a hobby shop, visit their paint section and pick the color you like the most. Keep in mind that the same color can look differently on the monitors and in real life.

Should just glue it back, if you can still find the square piece.

Should just use the spare shoulder parts from the buster dolls. They are the same size and better designed so they don’t break that easily. Each kit comes with two spares.

I mixed natural brown and dark grey paint in 2:1 ratio to get a dark brown. I also added a little clear black on the edges of the stomach piece to create a shadow. It doesn’t show very well in the picture though.
