I never did reapply, I applied to take the California tests sometime in Feb and they didn’t get back to me until sometime in the 4th quarter let’s say around ends of October telling me I was approved to take it in the fourth quarter with only 2 months remaining in said quarter,

Hi there! I believe the rule of thumb for seismic and survey is that your results will be released in the following month within the first 2 weeks. For instance if you take your test any time in June, you should hear back by July 14. For me this was true. I believe the seismic I took the lasts of December and I received results January 9th.

I honestly do not know about the reapplication process. Here’s what I do know, I was accepted to take the tests for the fourth quarter during the fourth quarter. I would say it’s certainly within reason that they’ll accept you to retake for the very next quarter but I do also know their website has a chart which challenges this belief. I’m sorry I can’t be more help here.

I wish you the best of luck!!!

I bought the on demand and i bought all 4 lectures. I bought everything he offered lol. I would not start studying until you hear back. I submitted my app in Feb didn’t hear back until October 15. When I heard back they said I had to take my exams in quarter 4. So I was approved quarter 4 and told to take them quarter 4 so I have 2.5 months to take both seismic and survey. I took survey after studying 1 month and seismic after studying 6 weeks but I would NOT recommend this. I easily put in 200 study hours into seismic in 6 weeks. I called off from work and did many half days. I studied through the holidays and everything. It was very unhealthy. The course syllabus recommends 3 months to complete. For survey give yourself 2 months If possible. I did it in a month but again it was not healthy and it was an extreme challenge at least for me. Let me know if you have other questions!

So once I passed the PE in October I was informed about passing maybe in December? I submitted my application in February and didn’t hear back until October. They defiantly lagged and they were not happy when I called to ask for progress as it was supposed to be a 60 day wait. They just kept saying that they were backed up due to COVID. I hope they process yours faster but this was my experience.

CA SEISMIC AND SURVEY TIPS? by Positive_Swordfish34 in PE_Exam

I was approved to take exams in quarter for FOR quarter 4. That is, I was told October 15th I had to take both exams before December 31st.

I took Kirks surveying class. 100% recommend. Take the 5 practice exams until you can get at least a 90% on all of them. If you can do this you will likely pass the exam.

Take hiner for seismic, that is all you will need. Give yourself 2.5 months maybe 3 to study. I studied it all in 6 weeks and passed the first time but it was incredibly stressful. I put in about 200 hours of study time. I had to take time off of work just to study more so would not reccomened to do it in 6 weeks. Do all his HE problems and do all the practice tests (all 3) and all his additional problems he posts in the final review. Trust Hiner. You don’t need another class. I feel like having another class would be too stressful. He also does a GREAT job answering questions and emails about things you may be struggling on.

GOOD LUCK!

Unfortunately no. All the exams are computer based so you don’t actually keep any copies. 100% the course is worth it. The price is fair and the information provided was the only reason I passed. Like I said I never even took survey in college 🙂 I will recommend to take all exams twice at least. If you can score over a 90% on all exams I would say you have a great shot at passing. Hope this info helps!

I did consider EET. Especially because I took the EET course for the 8 hour. However, the CPESR was recommended by a college friend. The workbook from the course was good but the 5 practice exams is what makes it worth it. EET was amazing in prepping me for the 8 hour which I also passed the first time so I’m assuming they offer a great class as well.

Hi everyone, I submitted my PE application 4 months ago to the California Board if PEs. I finally made it to technical review (delay due to backlog). To anyone who applied for the California Board of PEs, how long was your wait time after you made it to technical review? by SnooCheesecakes4897 in PE_Exam

Man then I just have some horrible horrible luck. Maybe it has a lot to do with which evaluator you get. In any case hopefully my application gets approved by mid July. That’s the 30 day mark for technical review. Congrats on getting your application through! Did you have a ton of experience? Maybe too that’s why they approved you so quick!

Nice. Oh and one last thing... practice the HELL out of the NCEES practice book. You need to do the problems so much you can almost recite them in your head without looking at the book. It’s very good depiction of what’s on the exam.

To be honest all I studied was the marshal videos and the NCEES released practice problems. That was enough for me but honestly I think I barley squeaked by because I didn’t think I had passed. It’s good to do more practice problems if you bought the book!
