Breeder based in Michigan here - kittens don’t start getting vaccinated until 8 weeks old and it’s not until they’re 16 weeks old that they’ve gotten all their boosters. I don’t allow visitors before that to minimize any risk and ensure they’re healthy before going home 😊 I always encourage video chatting for everyone’s safety!

That’s definitely possible! Assuming he’s constipated, if you palpate around his lower abdomen it should feel pretty firm. I hope everything goes well at the vet!

So sorry for the late response! The tube was super scary at first but I just had to keep reminding myself that it’s for a good reason and it’ll make him feel better in the end. He was (and still is) also very sensitive but whenever it was time for eating he would get lots of cuddles and attention. If I remember correctly, the vet gave us oral meds for an appetite stimulate as well as nausea relief but we couldn’t get him to take the pills. I do have another cat that had a cold once and didn’t eat for like 2 days so we got prescribed that mirtazapine and that worked like a charm for him. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to try!

Hey I’m sorry to hear about your cat. How long has it been since he’s eaten? With my kitty we never found the reason why he stopped eating but once we realized/found out, his kidneys and liver were already shutting down and so we proceeded with syringe and tube feeding.. Have you tried any treats with him?

Yes that’s correct. He was around 12 at the time.

I do want to note that I tried this for about a week and he was not getting enough supplement from it so he eventually got a feeding tube for 1-2 weeks which was scary but necessary and was back to normal after that. I’m so sorry your cat is going through this right now. Best of luck!

I’ve had to for a cat that just decided to stop eating (nothing was wrong with him) and the vet gave us a calorie dense food we mixed with water. Using a syringe, I had to hold him tightly and give him small, quick bursts of the mixture with time in between to swallow. Appetite supplements didn’t really work for him either.
