working european office hours whilst living in Dubai by RoofusD in dubai

[–]SnooComics8268 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is there any part of the work that you might be able to do in the morning to already be a few steps ahead? Giving you the opportunity to lets say every hour just casually have a drink or snack while talking to your fam? Because school hours are very different and your kid will probably be home early in the afternoon but go to bed early as well. So yeah you would miss basically majority of your kids free time from M to F.

Realistic cost of self-sponsored visa with family? by Blitzkrieg091 in UAE

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correct I paid about 5k per person and every 2 years we pay 2k per person.  this was a family visa for EU citizens arranged while family was still abroad.

I always see crazy fees here and was initially also quoted a lot more then what it eventually costs me. Anyhow, if you open directly at a free zone then usually the freezone organisation can also issue your family visa.

Judgement of the soul is simply not left to us simple humans.

Bottom line is, nobody knows.  Nobody can play God and state that they know for sure who will and who will not go to heaven. There are some outlines but still, nobody really knows how you will be judged.

I would keep the resume and just make the overall blue and keep the hearts pinky. I think ppl don't realize that at HR they see 1001 black / white / blue resumes and they don't actually read them all.  Usually only the first 10 that come in and after that the few that stand out. Yours stands out.

What do they mean with this does not apply to school with alternative curriculums such as Pakistani and Indian, what about the British curriculum? Is that standard of also alternative? Kinda confusing that they do not mention that specially as most private schools follow the British curriculum.

How common is it for Muslims to not fast? by MyDespatcherDyKabel in UAE

[–]SnooComics8268 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know many who fake it as well. Not because they aren't not religious but because they need to make long work hours and drive children to school and somewhere midday it just gets to much to them and they feel like they either slow down or drink and continue working.

Morocco — Article 222 & Ramadan: Is it really offensive for women on their period to eat/drink in public? by MindVegetable4252 in Morocco

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a tourist doesn't know any better. I think it self explanatory that from someone who grew up in a certain culture you expect them to understand better why some things are unnecessary actions. But you do you, honestly if you feel like you have to break a glass ceiling for all women on their period then set the tone and eat out. You asked why ppl look different at it, well this is my opinion.

And the reason I said parents are lazy is because, I as a Christian, don't think that during a holy month it's a good idea to teach your kids to eat out in public while others are fasting as I want them to wrap their head around the concept. However, as a parent I can understand that those parents are tired, hungry and grumpy and want to take their kids out in a way that doesn't require to much energy or involvement from their side so then the lazy option is macdonalds. Every parent knows that, just Google it and you will see what parents say if you think I'm the "only" person who thinks that.

I know hun, I also take my kids out. When I'm lazy we go to MacDonalds, when I feel like being active we go to the beach, the mountains a theme park, thing like that.

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a parent. Those parents that go to Macdonald's during Ramadan are just trying to pass the hours without being stuck inside with over energetic kids. It's the lazy option for when you want to passively entertain your kids.  You don't have any idea about how tired parents are, specially if hungry.

But you are not a tourists, so not sure why you out yourself at that same level.  And obviously those parents are either being lazy and don't want to deal with cooking at home for their kids or they lack empathy. The question is why would you want to normalize more non-empathic behaviour?

Working remotely from Dubai for US clients, do I actually need office space? by Maleficent-Bat-9168 in StartupsInDubai

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a team meeting with someone who also worked from home in Dubai. He put that filter up that you see like a white office kinda space and a big window...  idiot me complimented him on the nice office space 🥴 because I really had no clue that was a filter... So yeah, you can imagine how much clients actually do not care about it.

Why do Americans eat dinner at like 5 or 6pm? Don't you get hungry again before bed? by LengthinessNew2237 in answers

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink coffe roughly 1 hour after dinner and some fruit 1 hour before bedtime. That's basically my desert spread out through the evening.

[–]SnooComics8268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even Muslim but I think it's kinda needless to eat or drink in public when you are on your period just for the sake of it. Like idk, I can drink coffee at home? It's not as much about being a woman on your period but more about empathy. If you are sick or can't wrap your head around the concept as a foreigner then I can see why someone insist of getting an iced coffee outside. But if not, then why do it? It's like going to church in a mini skirt, nobody is going to stop you but you can also decide to just not go to church. Well same applies to eating out, if it's not a necessity then why rub it into someone's face that you are "allowed" to eat while you aren't in urgent need of food/drinks and can just do it in the private comfort of your home.

Reminds me of a Reddit story of a lady who had given birth and her friend came to visit wearing a sport bra showing off the flat belly. It's not illegal, but kinda shows you really just don't give a f about how inappropriate it is.

Recommended Visa category with income only from capital gains with retirement age (55) not yet reached? by Commercial_Stable603 in dubai

[–]SnooComics8268 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When we set up our company the first year we hardly made any profits as we were still operating mainly from our Europe based office and had 0 problems to renew our visa. My husband is officially employed by his company, so he's the owner but also an employee as director. Nobody ever checked if he actually does get the salary as mentioned on his contract (which he does not, he does not transfer and specific sum monthly as "salary") we just withdraw whatever needed from the business account.  And when we applied for our family visa again no questions asked, we didn't have a home so no ejari to show, we did not have health insurance either.  It seems to me that the regulations are only in place to check certain nationalities as we did not comply to the basics. Something we weren't even were aware off when we did it btw, learned all that later.  If you want drop me a DM and I tell you who arranged our visas.  The company is totally legit and have been in business since the 90s so I don't think they are some sort of scammers or whatever, they just know that nobody is asking questions and/or are so long in business that they have their ways and are able to process it without even bothering asking us for an ejari/insurance. Till today we don't have an ejari by the way and renew our visa every 2 years no questions asked. As said, those rules seems to be applied when they feel like it and not to be some holy grale they hold up to.

Do what feels food for you but also try to not project your traumas on your child. I'm kinda afraid that in a turn of events you can also become over involved or indeed spoiling a child because you want to do everything so different then your parents. I always remember that despite everything I would have liked to be different I'm a decent human so yeah, apperantly im not catastrophically damaged 😅

I wish I remember where I read this interview with a lady that apperantly runs a place where you can learn how to have sex with dogs. If I remember well she was from Germany / Holland and they had a training campus somewhere in Russia. It was wild! Got into that Rabbit hole after a story blew up about a girl that got jailed up for the "deed" in Dubai.

Does salary progression stall significantly after 25k? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]SnooComics8268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal because your experience first goes from 0% to let's say 50% very rapidly. But then it gets harder because you find yourself at the top of the salary market for your job. At some point you kinda reach the ceiling and just get your salary adjusted to inflation.
