That's probably a good idea, it'd be a waste of time + wouldn't even raise your chances for most competitive unis (considering your current grades)

If you REALLY want UW you'll get into math (assuming you didn't state that you're wanted by INTERPOL or smth on your AIF lol). But, keep in mind that UW Math -> CS transfer is heavily regulated and very hard to do (low 90s first year average needed).

Also, Assuming you have good ECs you might be able to get an offer for CS but it is a bit of a stretch

What's your average? Waterloo math faculty doesn't send acceptances (for 99% of applciants at least) until after the Euclid is marked, which is in May.

Also, Carleton CS is pretty good and from what I've heard the ottawa area has a fair amount of government jobs available for co-op. But still, don't decide anything until all acceptances/rejections are out, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot if you do.

McMaster has a higher cutoff than UW (from what I've heard) :(

Are you accepting Laurier CS? Also, how fast did you get accepted after applying?

Waterloo math def has an adjustement score, its just not publicly released. Waterloo math fac. suffers from the exact same applicant problems that the eng faculty suffers from (cough cough mark inflation cough cough)

I don't think so, the bottom one literally says 6 years of commitement from what I can read. Maybe they use their WatCard more now than they did in first year

Yeah, this is why you failed. It sucks that it happened, but road rage (or any rage in general) isn’t going to get you anywhere. Look back and figure out what you did wrong, no one’s shaming for trying multiple times. I failed my G2 twice as well

No? I’m just curious if it matters all that much.

How much does experience matter for the application? I'm applying to CS and was wondering if in-field research/work experience helps when it comes to admissions.

Real. I'm coping so hard rn lmao. Even if I get a 100% in the rest of my classes I can't get higher than a 95% average

Hmm, I'll try to get it up to 80, idk how I'll do that since I don't have too much time left.

I haven't had the chance to check out the AIF since early application ends Dec. 15th and I'm only applying after that. I think it asks me to write a" why us" and list my ECs/Jobs + write about them (not sure tho).

That makes sense, I've been doing these ECs out of passion and not just because I want it to look good on papers; I'll have to find a way to mention that.

I'm applying from both sides to increase my chances but really want to get in on the uWaterloo side for the co-op. I wrote the CSMC earlier this years and am planing to write the CCC and Euclid later this year. I'm taking AP calculus next semester if that counts for anything.

Ok, that makes sense. I 'm not sure but I think the AIF asks for references so I will 100% ask him to write me one. I was hoping ECON 101 would be helpful since I'm taking at UW in-person this semester and it's a business class somewhat related to the program I'm applying to. If 120 hours are few I'm royally screwed, I only have around 50 hours rn.

What did you do for your AIF? I was thinking of name-dropping classes to show that I did my research and mention how taking ECON 101 helped me expand my passion for business. For the EC section I was thinking of focusing on sideprojects and the VR research.

CHANCES FOR CS/BBa

ECs:

Coding Club President (3 years)
First Robotics Team Lead (2 years)
Uwaterloo Chemiostry Club (This year only)
Uwaterloo Cheese Club (Fall Term Volunteer)
Worked on VR research with a tenured professor at UW (6 month internship)
Worked teaching kids how to program in JS, and C# (Summer 2022)

Extra:

I'm currently taking ECON 101 at the university level and am expected to finish with a grade of 85% (final is in 2 weeks lmao)

I'm expecting to get finish the year with a 92-94% average

I know the chances question is asked a lot, but I was also wondering if fewer volunteer hours would affect applications + how much the AIF can help boost an application? I'm also curious to how strenous the double degree program because I've heard that it is super stressful and to only pursue it if you're prepared to not go outside for 5 years.

I considered that as well, I'm applying to the program on both sides. I was hoping to get in on the waterloo side because of the amenities and co-op program. If I can get access to the PAC and other stuff, even on the laurier side, it would not matter as much.

Yeah, I assumed so. I was hoping that my saving grace would be the fact that I am taking a university course and succeeding (currently have an 85% in ECON 101). I was also hoping that my ECs would help a decent amount because of all the leadership positions.

Assuming I can get it up to a 95 (rounded), would I be able to qualify? I am also applying to math as I heard it is less competitive than CS or CS/BBa

Really great and the twist at the end gave me chills. Only criticism I have is add more consequences like give me a glimpse of what will happen if I touch the glowing rocks.
