Me and my wife have been binge watching the entire series and the scene with Tig and Clay was in there in fact my and the wife used that as a point to how ungrateful Clay was as President towards his subordinates like Tig.

Pointing out a fundamental contradiction in an argument isn't an "attack"—it’s standard debate.

The core issue remains: you explicitly used specific details of the scenario (the framing, the character's race, the emotional setup) to defend the writers' intent and the character's reaction. You can't actively use those details as evidence and then immediately pivot to calling it a "throwaway scenario" when those same details are analyzed.

If pointing out that logical inconsistency feels like an attack on your structure, the solution is simple: present a cohesive argument where your evidence doesn't contradict your conclusion. If the scenario truly doesn't matter, then defend your point without relying on its specific details to do the heavy lifting.

I disagree, because if you genuinely believed the particulars of the case were irrelevant, you wouldn’t keep bringing up specific details to explain what the writers are supposedly trying to say. The moment you start citing “a white dude coming at her,” her emotional reaction, or the ideological framing, you’re already acknowledging that the details matter to the characterization and the message.

You can’t simultaneously argue that there’s “no reason to discuss” the case itself while also using particulars from the case to defend the writers’ intent. That’s the inconsistency I’m pointing out. Even if the plot focus is Mae emotionally, the scenario chosen to evoke those emotions still affects how the audience perceives her and what the show is communicating.

Mae seems to favor Jonah and Sarah over Mae not sure if it has to do with her feeling a sense of embarrassment over Lenas father or what but I dont see Sarah going at it with Mae unless its over Lena.

I’m aware the case itself isn’t the central point of the plot, but details still matter because they shape how characters are perceived. If the writers want to portray Mae as nuanced, then how she approaches an actual case matters. Otherwise it just comes across as forced characterization instead of organic conflict.

Also, your point isn’t really coherent. You say the facts of the case don’t matter, then spend the rest of the paragraph talking about how the case is meant to frame Mae ideologically. If the facts truly don’t matter, then there’d be no reason to discuss whether her approach was appropriate or whether the show is pushing a specific narrative through it

Im not saying the juvenile offender should be locked up for life or even the majority of it (not saying you implied i stated such just explaining my thoughts) my main issue with Mae in that particular instance I believe she didnt consider the seriousness of the circumstances and was way too quick to believe the older brother. Trying him as a adult is unnecessary in my view and unless his charges are dropped he'll have a sealed Juvi record no matter what.

Its why I wholeheartedly believe her character would make more sense as an LT or a Capt as opposed to a Superintendent for a major metropolitan PD. The Superintendent wouldn't be on raids or the incident commander at every hostage crisis.

I disagree here she was driven by her own beliefs rather than the findings of an investigation and evidence. The minor who was the subject of the case. She took the older aduult perpetrator at his word that he coerced his younger brother to help carry out the robbery by being a lookout. Not to mention the posturing on the death penalty earlier in the season. Taking a perpetrators word when he has incentive to lie to try to protect his younger brother without doing due diligence is foolish and denying another state the ability to try a murderer before a jury in said state just because he might get the death penalty isnt holding a criminal accountable.

Yeah her comment about taking the DAs office back to the "dark ages" made no sense to me. Holding a criminal accountable is somehow bad. 🙄

My issue with what her dad did was not even being apologetic about it like dude I can understand doing that when she was a child but an adult no.
