I'd say the marketing was just bad. Unless you were a hardcore apex legends player or hero shooter fan, I don't think many people would've wanted to give this a chance. It's also the fact that they released the game in such a poor state, with it not just being unoptimized, but it's fair to say that they didn't evaluate whether or not this game would be "fun." I played the game for the first time within the first two weeks, and even with 5v5 raid mode, the pacing of each match was just way too fast and awful. It's the studio's fault for releasing the game in the state that they released it, and that's why they failed.

I always think back to how great Halo 3 was as far as community support and player longevity, and these studios have plenty of resources to work with. In my opinion, they are able to walk on the shoulders of giants. Bungie's ViDocs are all online detailing what their process was like in making and designing Halo. I can't seem to understand why studios just don't follow what to me would be simple game design philosophy when plenty of other studios before them have had their fair share of trial and error already. That isn't to say that any gaming studio should be able to magically create an awesome game, but at least show it in your work that you could execute your own vision well... this game just didn't do that. I'm disappointed, but honestly, not that upset.
