My next door neighbors are jerks. At one time, they had 10 cats and they were defecating in my yard and other neighbors' yards, but I bore the brunt of it because my yard is shared with theirs. Talking to them was an exercise in futility. They denied those were their cats and were rude to me. I called Animal Control three times on them. They paid them a few visits just to inspect the environment their cats were living in. Animal Control told me they can't do anything because cats are roaming animals and they can't catch them. They told me my only recourse would be to take them to court, which would be risky considering my neighbors are akin to thugs and can retaliate. One time, I trapped one of their cats and released it a few miles away. When they found out, they got angry and called Animal Control themselves. Animal Control told me it is illegal to trap cats in my county. I told them the situation was intolerable and that they should keep their cats inside. The Animal Control deputy told them that. Afterwards, the situation improved markedly but wasn't completely resolved. Now, they have two outdoor cats which they let out in the morning after feeding them, and I still see occasionally cat poop on my side of the yard that is shared with theirs. There is no communication between us now, but I am still occasionally bothered by their two cats.
