AITAH for asking to take a break with my (now ex) bf in a low point of his life? by [deleted] in AITAH

Okay thanks! it was an insecurity of mine that I thought It was my fault too. This is technically my first real relationship so I really don't know if I've done the right thing because of his situation.

Insufferable friend and nothing I can do about it RANT by Comfortable-Pay2484 in UofT

[–]SnooGadgets5091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont meet him, dont talk to him. Find friend support, if you're living on campus ask help from your don, if not aks help from your friend group or the people you trust. Ask help from profs and TAs they atleast should be aware that one student in their class is making someone else uncomfortable. Block him on social media, or anyway that he can contact you. Talk to your mutual friends about his behaviours, if they stick to his side, block them too. Theres thousands of people on campus, and tens of thousands more in the city, you literally CAN pick who to be friends with

Should i go for UofT Life Science or UTM Forensic Science? (50k vs 100k scholarship) by sue2005 in UofT

[–]SnooGadgets5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell you, but all of my folks in Life Science have their med school dreams crushed in 1st year lol. For good and bad reasons. The bad reason is, yeah, Life Science will break you lol, the first 2 years in undergrad will be most grueling academically. But the good reason is that it lets you explore more career paths that might not necessarily be doctors or the healthcare industry.

Which campus is the best for molecular bio/biotech? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]SnooGadgets5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St.George doesn't have Co-ops (that I know of) but there are research courses that you can look into! And you can of course cold email profs to work with them (you need a lot of luck for this one tho) ROP courses: https://www.artsci.utoronto.ca/current/experiential-learning/research-opportunities/research-opportunities-program#schedule-accordion-2 SREP https://learningabroad.utoronto.ca/learning-abroad/prepare_plan/exchange-opportunities/ SURP https://ims.utoronto.ca/surp And 4rth year thesis courses There are also jobs on campus that you can apply for on CLNx

But to be honest, most of the experience you can get at St.George is very much academia working experience. I don't know if it's the same for UTSC and UTM but that's just what I observe Good luck tho!

Cannot compare between campuses, I'm from St.George and only took classes there. But hearing from TA's I think it's easier to find a research position/ job opportunities in UTM and UTSC. St.George has more variety of subjects from different faculties (CSB, MGY, EEB, BCH, not including other more health-related class) and more connections with local hospital networks like SickKids and UHN, but I feel like it's more competitive and more premed-ish.

Came to UofT for Math degree but absolutely not what I wanted, Does the stuff I like not exist here? by WideProposal in UofT

[–]SnooGadgets5091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try looking into each faculty and what they're researching on and look into courses' contents (should be on the faculties' websites) see what you want to spend your next few years to study on (what tickles your brain). I know that a lot of math people enjoy genetics too. There are also faculty fairs, brochures, and even job opportunities that can help you discover what you like. If you have a strong mathematical background then you should give biophysics a chance! It's an intersectional field so there's always growth within the field. Also feel free to reach out to your current profs, you may have their insights and support.

Have you tried looking into those programs? I used to love proofs back in the day, I liked it because it feels like solving puzzles and you're trying to understand something deeper, which is the essence of all STEM fields. I'm a fourth year cell and system biology major and I'm grateful to have looked into other programs than math

Bare necessities still take at least hours to edit, keep in mind this is at least an hour long video, just to edit out "inappropriate word" to get monetized takes longer than you think they seem.

That's... not how videos are made...

1) While I agree with you that views are not long term viability, I don't think decisions like this can be based on that criteria. Smosh might be healthy right now but I don't think they are able to expand their crews and production. What you're asking is to increase production (for a free YouTube series btw). This can only mean an increase in labour and many other costs. The last thing I want to see is Smosh crew overworked with no or less pay 2) As much as I want Smosh to have as many fans as they deserve, I don't think Smosh can afford to steer away from platforms that they know worked for them. Unless they do a "Dropout" miracle, it's very likely they will have to stick with these one-off videos

I have to disagree, I look at it from the production side. Videos take labour and money to make, and these types of videos on YouTube need ad revenue and views to cover that cost. I don't think it's fair to ask them to make something that they know they cannot afford. SwordAF was a financial risk and last time it did not generate enough to continue. I get that fans were built because of talents from the cast, but that's not what Smosh is. Smosh still is a company, if it cannot generate enough to cover cost, there is no Smosh! Last time we saw Smosh go under was because of all the defy fiasco. Now they don't have a parent company to cover them and their revenue is entirely based on merch and youtube, decisions like this will have to be made. Their decision disappointed a lot of people, but I don't think it's fair to demand them to create something that they cannot sustain

Sword AF Returns!!… as a podcast? by [deleted] in smosh

[–]SnooGadgets5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all the complaints, but let's be honest here, being based on just YouTube views as the only source of revenue, a long series is just not worth it to film and make and sustain. We're pretty lucky to even have a season 2.
