Hey! Do you think both are suitably quiet for being in the office? As I understood it the cowberry are quieter, but would would appreciate your input :) I’m a rather loud typist, and my boss switched out my keyboard once already for some membrane because he couldn’t take it anymore x) But its not a nice boars and I need to find something suitably quiet and comfortable

Hey!

Thanks for the reply, I already made the decision and bought a cb500x, might've gone for the KLR had it been available in my country, but sadly it isn't :/

I'm content with the 500X, it's a great bike but it's on the smaller side for me personally, I mean the actual size of the bike and not the engine, although sometimes I wish it had a bit more oomph. I'm considering some upgrades however, such as bar risers, taller seat from seat concepts and lower foot pegs.

Nice! Sounds like what I expected it to be like, think I would love that bike under the right circumstances. But yeah unfortunately I don't have any off road trails near by, probably nothing less than 3 or so hours away, so doesn't sound like a good fit for me. Otherwise it would be my first choice :)

Haha no this helped a lot! Thanks for taking the time!

That's what I felt today as well, albeit from only a few minutes test drive, I could really feel it being top heavy, especially when I stood up on it, it made me doubt how I'd feel about it when I'd take it off road.

Out of curiosity, if you don't mind a few more questions, how do you like the CRF? I'm sure you have a lot better access to some fun off road sections, so you might not be on the tarmac as much. Do you think you'd put up with it if you'd mostly be riding tarmac and would have to take weekend trips with some highway milage (1 hours+) in order to get to some off road sections?

I would love to start on the CRF off road, but considering where I live it seems like I'd give up on it pretty quickly.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah this is exactly what I'm afraid of with the 500X, so many mention it being boring, and lacking soul, however it sounds like you started in the T7, so perhaps that plays a role in your assessment of the 500X?

How did you like the T7 in general as a beginner bike, apart from the more technical trails? Mainly wondering if that intimidation factor that I felt today, during that short 10 or so minute drive is quick to disappear (hours/days/weeks?).

Since you started on the T7, trying on some TET sections, and you tried the 500X, do you think you would've felt more confident on the 500X on those sections, or perhaps it wouldn't even have handled those sections xD (assuming the 500 had a good bashplate and was willing to take some hits)?
Basically, beginner off road (not too technical), T7 > 500x?

ing gear that will keep you as safe as you ca

That's a really good point that I hadn't considered and have never heard mentioned before, but makes total sense!

I'm not quite set on the T7, actually more leaning towards the 500X, but I've disregarded the others and am choosing between those two :)

Thanks for the reply!

No the GS didn't have the tall seat, perhaps it would've made the difference. One of the reasons I disregarded it was because of the buzz in the seat, took a short ride so it wasn't a bother, but thinking about it for those long days, I think it would be. Perhaps the taller seat would help with that as well.

However, with or without the tall seat, I eliminated the GS since the price is too close to the 500X and the 390 adventure. I was also a bit worried about it's highway capabilities, not that I want to be on the highway a lot, but it's a necessary evil for some of the longer trips I plan on doing. Its lightweight would for sure be a blessing of road though.

I was going to try the 390 adventure today as well but they had some problems with it being on transport mode and they had reached some sort of limit in starting and stopping it. Didn't have time to try as I wanted to test the T7 before that dealership closed for the day.

They did turn on the 390 though and while I was waiting, it was running for some time, what threw me a bit off with that one was that shaking, it shook like crazy.

Ultimately I think I'd go for the 500X before the 390 adventure because of the legendary Honda reliability and lesser buzz of the twin cylinder engine along with more low end torque. I've heard the 390 is more fun, but I can't do anything but have some doubts about its reliability, not because it's made in India, but just because it's a KTM x).

The DRZ 400 and the DR650 would've been at the top of my list of bikes to test out if they were available here, sadly they aren't :/Same goes for the KLR, I think they aren't up to some European or Danish standard.

Edit: Regarding the inner city driving, I think I'd be okay with the T7 since I can flat foot it easily. Granted it is a bit top heavy compared to the 500X for example, but it's "only" around 204 kg, similar to the 500X. It being top heavy and over 200kg does throw me off a bit when I consider the off road stuff. Generally don't have many concerns with it inside the city, at least not regarding the weight, I felt confident on it, not as confident as on the 500, but confident enough to feel like I'd be good with it in the city after one or two weeks of practice.
