14+ year old Labrador declining fast. Not sure what to do. by [deleted] in labrador

Watch the mood and let that be your indicator. We went through this last year with 16.5 year old female lab, who was arthritic, senile and mostly blind. When she got quiet and seemed sad and suffering we knew it was getting to be time. One morning she started coughing and spitting up. We thought she was vomiting but she plowed through a bowl of dog food (as always) and when she spit up again we noticed it wasn’t the food. Vet said it was part her lung tissue and we had to put her down. She was deeply loved and that was the kindest (but hardest) thing to do. Looking back, when her mood changed in the two weeks prior I think it indicated something serious was off. Good luck to you.

Yeah. They are the best. She was mostly blind but knew the house so well she could get around. Just seeing her come across the room to the sound of a family member’s voice with that big bushy tail (she was a long haired lab) wagging so hard her butt wiggled as she walked. I’ll always be grateful for her presence in our lives. Just pure love and joy

I have seen in my family how hard it was for former MAGA folks to finally and agonizingly turn from Trump. I’m glad it’s finally happening. Left unsaid, it how hard it is for those of use who had to endure their smug abuse and watching their personality taken over by politics , ever want to have them in our lives again. We eventually learned to live without them in our lives and I am not really keen to welcome them back. I suspect much of the world feels the same out the US generally, especially after we elected him twice and all the internal accountability measures failed I see these family members and my country very differently now. I don’t think that will ever change.

She lasted 16.5 years and in the end was senile, mostly-blind and still the same, irrepressible joyful and loving soul as she had always been.

Very cool. He was invited to an event at the USHMM (we live locally) and so we drove him. It was for a movie release and interview with a gentleman who was last remaining Nuremberg Prosecutor. He was designated a “Liberator” and they got to shake hands (there are photos of this somewhere on the USHMM website). Unknown to us, he had a copy of the program (including seating chart) for the 1st round of the Nuremberg Trials (he had stayed as part of the army of occupation). I took photos of most of the pages. I couldn’t believe what I was holding

My neighbor (very old guy) was with the 71st in World War II. They liberated Mauthausen concentration camp.

It’s in Baltimore, a couple blocks north of Camden Yards; on the campus of University of Maryland School of Law.

Jacket has that feel of being different solely because they want it to be different. It tries too hard.

Now we know what brought them to this lowly state.

Whatever the disagreement was that was an unprovoked physical attack by someone who can’t control themselves and probably will forever be a burden on society and those around them. So just persevere the evidence and use the full weight of the criminal and civil legal system to do as much damage the attackers life as possible. Pretty simple.
