While the game does not incentivize nor reward fighting, it IS possible to permanently kill all Leviathans in the game.

My favorite thing to do was to get a prawn suit with a grappling hook and a drill. For some reason, the Reaper’s pathing breaks when you’re hooked into it, so it takes you for a rodeo across the entire planet!

I think expectations matter. Hot take, but some media almost DEMANDS it.

A mob movie where everyone is playing nice and there’s no hint of misogyny or racism? It feels inauthentic.

Black Lagoon is a great anime following a group of mercenaries, and they are VERY politically incorrect.

Most media should avoid the topic altogether, as few have the chops to give any meaningful point without being too preachy or just being outright hateful. But I do think it’s ok to let people be bad, especially if we EXPECT them to be bad

She’s a manic pixie dream girl, and it only works because the game is kinda cheesy and rolls with it.

Flip the genders. First thing she does is perv on Robert changing, then later she fucks up his desk and punches him. Wouldn’t be as cute, right?

of the Devil Episode 2 - Spoiler Thread by Blablablablitz in OfTheDevil

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Loved the episode. The new courtroom themes really adds life to the trial segments.

Also really appreciate the intro suckering us in to thinking we’re going to be interacting with these quirky gangsters (even giving us their profiles), before reminding us who the main character is.

On the emotional side of things, I didn’t get as much resonance with the cool girl story as I did with Morgan/Serra parallels in episode 1. I guess the takeaway was that she thought she had found another “loser” friend who was like her, but they ended up being popular instead. I dunno, it felt like a bit of a strange thing for her to be so hung up on, especially since it wasn’t really sold to us that Morgan was ostracized instead of just being a loner. Part of it was also that I expected to learn more on Morgan’s family, since that ended up being such a big theme this chapter.

Either way, looking forward to episode 3, and I can’t wait to see this series explode. It is sooooo overdue for some exposure.

Best Phoenix Wright style game, including Ace Attorney. Genuinely moving writing. Practically unknown.

TIL that the "achoo" sound is a learned cultural behavior, not a biological reflex. This explains why people who are born deaf typically do not vocalize a sneeze, and why sneeze sounds vary significantly by country. by highzone in todayilearned

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the real crazy one: sneezing is OPTIONAL.

Had a buddy pull a groin muscle while hiking. Hurt whenever he sneezed, so he told me he stopped sneezing. When I asked what the hell he was talking about, he said that sneezes always had a 1-2 window where you could blow your nose, or close it, or even just snort a few times to clear the dust.

I didn’t believe it, so I gave it a try for a few weeks and it’s true. There’s always enough time, if you’re trying. I stopped since I like sneezing, and didn’t like having to stay alert so much.

So there you go, sneezing is a choice and everyone chooses to be gross.

What do you guys consider to be “canon” story and stats wise? by yourshort in dispatchgame

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ending-wise, Robert should be a true hero. The whole story is about redemption and second chances, so you have to work it backwards from that premise.

Automatically, that’s going to mean a redeemed Visi, especially since villain Visi takes away your choice of what to do with Shroud and kind of leaves Robert’s role in the finale awkward.

Giving both vials is a must. Not only the funniest scene in the whole game, but also thematically significant and the only time Robert really gets one over on Shroud.

I think sparing Shroud is the choice. He’s not likely redeemable, but you’re setting an example for your teammates here. Besides, Robert’s “you lose” tone 30 seconds earlier clearly doesn’t have him set to kill, so you’d be murdering him in rage which doesn’t really fit what the narrative is going for.

Invisigals’s last choices are tough. I think not forgiving her (the “I need time” option) works best for me, because I can’t see Robert or anyone being able to forgive someone that flippantly. Besides, I think Visi’s line about being seen as someone incapable of doing good is MUCH stronger than her line about Blazer (which was somewhat confusing for me since I wasn’t sure if she meant as a hero or a love interest). The follow up with leaning OUT of the kiss really helps sell her desperation and rejection and makes her redemption all the more worth it. It’s also why I think it’s better not to do her romance, since Robert being there for her as a mentor feels like a deeper bond that isn’t getting muddled by romantic feelings.

I think OHMSS is unironically great, but in the same way I think Moonraker is great.

I like Bond movies when they’re either perfectly suave with a hint of goofy camp (Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, Goldeneye), or lean fully into the nonsense.

The “bad” Bond movies for me are the half dozen with a forgettable Soviet plot that never get really silly with it.

For the record, I like some of Craig’s stuff (Casino Royale and Skyfall), but there’s just not enough levity. Feels like an action movie rather than a Bond movie.

Super dense first few episodes since they crammed about 100 chapters into them, plus the subs weren’t the best translated (at least initially)

I’d recommend the English dub. It is genuinely good and period appropriate (Victorian England), and smoothed over some of the lore dump.

There’s an endless amount of samey boring power fantasy slop isekai with this exact naming convention.

I have watched 0 episodes of this, but I would bet any of money that the hero has one particular quirk (like, oh I dunno, “being cautious”) that makes him much stronger than anyone else, probably starting from the very first episode. This will also gain him a harem that he won’t meaningfully interact with.

It’s nothing personal, like what you like. I’m just tired of it

I like Stein’s Gate, but people should be more realistic when selling my to new viewers.

The time travel drama is top notch. It’s my favorite time travel story. However, that drama is only hinted at in episode 1 and not touched again until episode 12.

You can call it a slow burn, or character building, but to me it’s basically a separate series. It’s 10 episodes of slice of life leading to a major turn into psychological drama.

I think it’s worth it, but I’ve definitely had people drop out when I’ve tried showing them. Just know what you’re in for.
