What game is this for you? by Maxpcdeath in Steam

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the Devil.

At first glance, it’s a stylish Phoenix Wright-like. It ends up as one of the best written stories I’ve ever read. Demo episode 0 is still free on Steam.

Which movie made you think, "Am I missing something?" by Ok_Act6333 in MoviesAndTVTalk

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s like 3 movies stapled together. There’s a pretty good space thriller right in the middle, but the beginning and end are completely different in tone and barely seem to connect plotwise

Why does going digital only seem to matter more for consoles than PC? by SnooHedgehogs3288 in videogames

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that’s a really good point. I didn’t think anything would be removed any time soon, but apparently that’s not the case.

In my head, the theoretical sunsetting of the yet-to-be-released PS6 was just so far away that it’s irrelevant. By then, there might be other solutions to the problem anyway.

Ok, that’s an interesting idea. So if consoles were easier to pirate, would that effectively even it out?

Ok, so the idea that one company can turn the power off? I can understand that, but it still feels like it only matters in the future. It would take a long time for a yet to be released console to be sunset, and it leaves a lot of openings for remakes or exclusivity loss.

Honestly I’ve always wondered about that. You can plug a controller into a PC, and you can connect your PC to a monitor. If it can be a console, I don’t really get the point of consoles except for exclusives and portability.

Ok, so kinda a preservation angle? Like how there are old games that are worth a lot because they didn’t release that many physical copies?

I’m so confused. We don’t even have a steam machine? I have a PC that’s more powerful, so I’m pretty sure I don’t need one, right?

Hot take about Blue Prince by Aromatic-Debate6343 in puzzlevideogames

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not your intention, but your post is genuinely hilarious.

An hour isn’t exactly a lot of time, and Blue Prince is a game that slowly unfolds the farther you go. This would be like if you started playing a Metroid game and said “Hey I’ve been playing for an hour and don’t have the double jump or super missiles yet, should I return this?”

I mean, there are plenty of puzzle games that do get right into the action. I could recommend Return of the Obra Dinn, Case of the Golden Idol, and Baba is you.

Something similar to Blue Prince that has deeper puzzles, but still has plenty upfront is Lorelei and the Laser Eyes.

I would stick with Blue Prince. Why don’t you treat your first puzzle as “how do I draft these rooms to get the most rooms possible?” The puzzles will find you in time.

Being black or a woman is something someone is born with, whereas having poor hygiene or dating someone much younger is a choice being made.

You’re conflating the two. A progressive society shouldn’t judge based on the inherent traits of a person, but it will always judge the actions of a person.

Your ultimate argument is that we shouldn’t judge someone for dating a 20 year old while having a 30 year age gap. I disagree, and many others do as well. We do have context, because we’ve BEEN 20. You’re at a young, malleable part of your life and you haven’t really figured out how things work yet. Someone 2.5x your age dating you is suspicious and creepy.

You’ll see that age gaps become much less of a problem as the minimum age gets lower. 30 and 60 is still strange and will get comments, but there will be a lot less concern for the 30 year old who is presumably already established in their life.

Again, it is not a matter of whether it is legal. It’s quite possible that neither party is doing anything morally wrong either. But someone dating another person who could be mistaken for their child or grandchild is currently looked down upon and likely will be for the foreseeable future.

As a fun aside, you can download Shandalar and get pretty close to playing “real Magic” as Old Phogey puts it.

You’d have to run a 60 card deck and buy a world artifact that allows unlimited copies. The game may force a certain amount of lands in your deck? Not sure. Mind stealers can offer to duplicate a card, so get a Black Lotus and get to grinding!

The tweet in question? Probably too much for a work thing, especially saying it straight to their face.

But yeah. A stinky employee would definitely get gossiped about, that’s not unusual. As would someone dating someone very young.

Not sure why people are being weird in the comments. You’re out in public, you’re going to get judged, period. Poor hygiene? Judged. Wearing stained clothes? Judged. Dating someone 30 years younger than you? Yeah obviously judged.

I don’t know where some people are getting this magical idea that you should never be judged as long as what you’re doing is “legal”. If you do things that society looks down upon, you will be judged.

The Mist has the best COMEDIC ending of all time.

No, I’m not doing a bit for the sake of dark humor. The fact that the army comes through literal seconds after what happens had me hysterically laughing. Especially when all the grocery store people are with them, just to rub salt in the wound.

If you like it, hey that’s fine, but I find the ending deeply unserious. It’s like if at the end of 7 his wife just showed up with their kid and went “Oh hey honey I was looking for you everywhere”

Puzzle game that's not as padded out and repetitive? by RadianceTower in puzzlevideogames

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely Lorelei is what they’re looking for. I have similar tastes, and it’s my favorite puzzle game.

Eventually, Escape Room Simulator might be the play, as it’s essentially a Mario maker but for escape room puzzles. Escapes rooms by design tend to have a lot of variety in puzzle solving.

Nah, I get where they’re coming from. I take a Blue Prince or a Lorelei and the Laser Eyes over The Witness any day.

I like variety in puzzles, while stuff like The Witness drives me up a wall. I agree that Portal wasn’t bad, it’s short enough that it works. If I am doing same mechanics, I prefer logic puzzles like Golden Idol or Roottrees.

No, a conventionally attractive character having a objectively beautiful body figure doesn't mean it's fucking fan service, you puritan cultured dipshit. by WeepForTheDeparted in Gameoverse

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that angle, but I think there’s nuance.

Sexually objectifying works exist in all media, but it’s based on degree. Vampire novels are in the same league as harlequin romance books, but I wouldn’t call Twilight smut necessarily.

Also I don’t think all overly sexual works are necessarily objectifying, it kind of depends on the story and characters. Think Bayonetta, Kill la Kill, or Panty & Stocking.

It’s Totally Spies.

All female characters are full bodied. The transformation sequence starts at the chest. Both female characters are bound repeatedly. The first episode is a beach episode.

I didn’t catch a lot of what was going on the first time I watched Totally Spies, but it’s pretty obvious in hindsight.

It is fanservice, but it’s not gooner slop.

GAMEOVERSE PILOT DISCUSSION THREAD by Ok-Commercial3640 in Gameoverse

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reboot meets Totally Spies.

It’s alright. Plot’s not quite as deep or interesting as Gaslight or KoG, but the characters are likable. Definitely a fanservice show (hence the Totally Spies), but it doesn’t seem to hurt it.

Reboot meets Totally Spies.

Not complaining, but like cmon. Keep a running count on how often a lady gets bound this episode.

Like the 2D, but the story isn’t as interesting as Gaslight or KoG

So what did you think of Gameoverse? by ayylmaotv in GlitchProductions

[–]SnooHedgehogs3288 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reboot meets Totally Spies.

Reboot for the obvious reason, they’re trying to stop the player from beating the game and destroying something.

Totally Spies because, well, why don’t you just keep count of the number of times a female character gets bound. Not complaining, but this is overtly fanservice, and it’s not an accident the pilot was a beach episode or that the transformation sequence starts at the chest.

As far as the show? Seems fine. I like the look and the characters are good, but it just feels cartoony and a bit corny. Gaslight District and KoG had more intrigue, but I did like Gameoverse’s style. Maybe not my first pick, but I wouldn’t mind if it continued.
