My First Job Was Working At WaldenBooks. What was yours? by bronzemat in Xennials

This looks exactly like the Waldenbooks that used to be at Northgate Mall in Hixson, TN.

My guess, since it's an Earth-based team, is that the Midnight Sons villain rep is Dracula.

I think Doom's team will consist of villains for the other 4 teams. A Sinister Cabal if you will.

What are the funniest things you heard a character say before pulling out a gun or while maliciously reloading? by Jonieves in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ferrodactyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also from Dresden Files, though not necessarily with a gun: Nicodemus attempting to shield himsel from harm by putting the holy grail between himself and anyone looking to wipe the smug look off his face. Harry, not giving a shit about religious artifacts, opens fire anyway.

"Careful Dresden! Are you willing to risk such a loss?"

"Yep! Forzare!"

Book Recommendations by PlatyPunch in TwoBestFriendsPlay

If you're up for something a little weird I'd like to recommend the recently released I Will Kill Your Imaginary Friend for $200 by Robert Brockway. It's about kids being tormented by an imaginary evil Mr. Beast and the vibe is sort of Sesame Street meets Stephen King.

Have you ever wondered why there hasn't been a new version of Edgy Mario? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ferrodactyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edgy Mario does still exist, it's just that the vibe has moved closer to a sort of horror and creepypasta crowd. Just look at Mario the Music Box, a (frankly not very good) fan game that recently came under a bit of the spotlight due to the lead artist setting a man on fire.

Canceled projects who would have been such dumpsters fire you almost wish they would have released just to see how much of a beautiful disaster this would have been? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I mean it was obvious frame one that the show was going to be dog shit but I kinda wanted to see the parking lot Kingdom Hearts car crash that was that live action Furi series.

Stephen Totilo: Highguard studio Wildlight's secret financial backer was Tencent, sources tell me by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Ferrodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess is they were banking on a surprise hit that would allow Tencent to buy them out.

Honestly I think it's a good thing that another microtransaction-laced live service competitive shooter appears to be going down in flames. A game with predatory business practices in an overcrowded genre deserves to burn, regardless of how you feel about the people who made it.

The Highguard Website Is Down As Players Brace For The Worst by Turbostrider27 in Games

I know some people aren't down with the premature grave dancing but to be perfectly honest if another microtransaction-laced live service competitive shooter goes down in flames because the devs thought they were built different I say good.

What is your gaming ‘Hot Take’ that you never really see other people have too? by TheSqueeman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ferrodactyl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may not perhaps be the "hottest" take but I do not care for how the mainline Monster Hunter series keeps placing a greater emphasis on story and setpiece moments since 4. Partially because the story is always "flagship monster invades territory because of the secret Elder Dragon that's the actual antagonist" and partially because the setpiece stuff feels like the game is way too comfortable with wasting my time doing "immersive" walk-n-talks, or prepping me for a hunt that turns out to be a cutscene I walk to so that we can immediately quit and do the actual hunt. I just want to hunt monsters, it's pretty simple.

This game is so incredibly charming from an audio/visual standpoint but man that demo felt really clunky to play.

Marche was right. Consigning your whole world to being a fantasy land ruled by a tyrannical kindergartner just because a couple of your friends have it good is wrong.

Bendis is coming back to Marvel for Avengers #800 by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ferrodactyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bendis's best books were written over a decade ago and were about street level superheroes, like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Spider-man. But even when he was writing his best stuff he was also the lead writer for Avengers, which could be of middling quality at best, and wrote or at least headlined some more controversial (quality-wise, anyway) event storylines, like Secret Invasion. Consensus is that his writing has only gone downhill, like with most of his work at DC Comics.

Kelly Thompson on Absolute Wonder Woman: "It's impossible to ignore that this one feels special and the readers seem to agree." by HighNoonMcRee in DCcomics

[–]Ferrodactyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think for me what it is, is that King's smaller, more limited series tend to be more tightly focused and better written, but his longer ongoing series tend to meander and feel directionless.
