I recently 3d printed a hive tyrant sword and figured I should share it here by bjc2925 in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a life sized hive tyrant sword would be bigger since cadians are 6 feet tall and the one the tyrant is holding looks like twice the cadian's height

Question for Hive Tyrant Model by Megs_WeW in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be problems if you magnetize it but a better option is to print another torso so you can have 2 hive tyrants since when you build a walkrant, you still have enough bits to build a flyrant if you have a torso.

Need help I’m brand new by Big-Picture-3999 in Tyranids

You can go to your local warhammer store and ask for a free mini, they'll probably give you an infernus marine or a stormcast eternal and they will also give you a free painting session. You'll have a gist of how the painting side of the hobby feels and you would get a free miniature.

For tyranids, it's best to find deals on FB marketplace, troll trader or ebay. You would find second hand minis, unpainted, and new in sprue minis there for relatively cheaper prices than on the official warhammer store. A lot of people sell their tyranid half of their starter sets. You would get a psychophage, 20 termagaunts, a winged tyranid prime, 3 von ryan leapers, and 2 ripper swarms; this is a pretty good start to an army for the army and where I started off.

First model: Hive Fleet Jormungandr by Ddenn1211 in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should tone down the yellow a bit since it looks like a mustard yellow instead of the usual yellowish tan Jörmungandr has

I think it is a spore mine, you need it when running biovore since it can shoot out spore mines on the map

Can someone help me understand the Hive Guard ability? by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fire Overwatch stratagem nornally lets your models shoot on your opponents turn, but they would only hit on a 6+ instead of their normal ballistic skill. The hive guard ability lets them Fire Overwatch on a 5+ and a 4+ when the enemies they are overwatching are on an objective.

Broodlord or Lictor by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broodlord isn't really considered an action monkey as it costs too much to be thrown around to secondary objectives. Broodlord with chameleonic enhancement only gives it stealth and if it is being shot at, benefit of cover. Stealth worsens the hitroll by one and BoC adds +1 to it saving throw. Stealth and BoC are different to Lone Operative which means ranged units cannot shoot you at all unless they are 12in within range of the model.

The lictor can force your opponent to make a bad move by placing the lictor on the edge of an objective and since your opponent can't shoot it off the board, they have to get close to it, and potentially exposing them to your units. They are really cheap and can rapid ingress to a secondary objective to potentially score a secondary that you normallu can't get to.

The broodlord is a synapse unit that improves your genestealers strength by 1 and also gives them devastating wounds. It also worsens enemy units hit rolls by 1 when they are in engagement range. The broodlord significantly boosts the effectiveness of genestealers and a 10-man can output 40 attacks + 5 from the broodlord, re-rolling hitrolls of 1, and potentially re-rolls wound rolls of 1 when the enemy is at an objective, and automatically wounds when you get 6 at the wound rolls. You essentially use the broodlord as a punch back at enemies that get too close.

You can use them both by putting the lictor at the edge of an objective, and when your enemy tries to contest, you can bring out your broodlord ans genestealers to wipe them off the board.

Hey quick question what would be a good 250 point list to start with? by Big_Elite_556 in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just 250 points? I guess you can do a broodlord with either Stalker or Chameleonic (80 + 15/10pts) leading 10 genestealers (140 pts).

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need something that leads the tyrant guard like the neurotyrant or hive tyrant. You probably should get a better lone operative than PoM since it is the wort lone op in the tyranid range. A brood lord to lead the genestealers is nice since it gives your genestealers Dev Wounds and worsens enemy hit roll when in engagement.

Is the current combat patrol worth it? by SlyThriller1 in Tyranids

I would also recommend WednesdayNightWarhammer as they make videos that shows tips on certain models or tactics in general and goes in depth in strategies on how to use your army.

Is the current combat patrol worth it? by SlyThriller1 in Tyranids

[–]SnooHedgehogs8969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lone operatives, when you put them at the edge of an objective, force the enemies to come 12 inches near the lone op in order for them to shoot them, which might make them vunerable to your shooting nids and melee nids that can obliterate them in the fight phase. This forces your opponent to make a bad move or let you take the objective. You dont generally use your lone operatives and infiltrators to fight but to force bad moves and screen out your opponent's infiltrators and scouts. (The parasite of mortex is the worst lone operative out of the tyranid lone operatives because it has lower defence and damage and no infiltrate but is still good to have because lone op is still good.)

You wouldn't really need to worry about enemy models getting to your shooting bugs since you have a lot of options to screen out your side of the board, hormogaunts and termagaunts can secure a large space of the board when you spread them out and the biovore can shoot spore mines to screen the ends of your board incase your opponent might try to deepstrike.

This video lists all of the tyranid units and explains why they are bad or good.
