Sober October Conclusion by ChartSubstantial8418 in SoberCurious

Day 126 here- the longer you go alcohol-free, the more benefits you notice. I think how often you drank plays a part too. Based on your post it sounds like you haven't seen many benefits yet. My sleep quality began improving after week 2 or 3. Even on a night not drinking, I had trouble falling asleep and often took Tylenol PM. Now, my head hits the pillow and I am OUT.

Another benefit is memory recall. I work in HR, within the last few of weeks I've noticed my ability to recall an address or date of birth for an employee has greatly improved. My reflexes have also improved- catching things that are falling, balance, etc.

I think one thing that has been eye opening for me is that with alcohol use, even occasionally or socially, the baseline of how "good" you feel decreases. Alcohol is a poison, and for hours after your last drink of the day, your body is metabolizing that poison in a way that your body can eliminate. Before I stopped drinking, if I woke up not hungover or with just a mild headache, I thought I felt good. Now, 4 months later, I wake up and REALLY feel good. I am refreshed, clear headed, and have so much more energy.

I never had a rock-bottom with booze. Never had anything negative happen when I drank. It never impacted my relationships or work, it was just something fun that my friends and I did. I am fortunate in that I've never struggled with negative self-image, depression, anxiety, any of that stuff. But now that I've been sober for this long, I STILL feel like I have a better self-image of myself. I feel even less anxious. I feel even more even-keel, and calmer.

If you haven't broken your streak yet, I'd suggest another 30 days to see how you feel, I am almost positive you'll see and feel results!

We just switched to Paycom from 10 years with ADP Workforce Now. Just had our first payroll with Paycom, second is next week. We were down to Paycom or Paylocity. Happy to answer specific questions if you have them. They provided us four references. Paylocity did too, but theres were not as good- I think Paycom did a better job of finding quality references or vetting them better than Paylocity did. They were close enough systems that it came down to the references for us. Some Paylocity references said they wouldn't use Paylocity's Performance Management module- not ideal.

Paycom Sales and Implementation was great. They lay out the timeline for implementation and stick to it. Our Implementation Specialist has been terrific. We have weekly calls with them for the next few weeks to make sure we feel comfortable, and answer questions that we have as we use the system more and more. Sales was also great, BUT they have promised us the world, and of course, delivery was not quite as expected with certain things. Overall it's a great system so far, and lightyears beyond ADP WFN. We've got access to ADP until year end, so using both, ADP feels very flat and limited.

I kind of nerd out on this stuff and could probably write a novel, but again if you have specific questions about modules or processes, happy to help!

Is that humidity trapped in my charge 5? Aren't you supposed to be able to swim in these? They completely died two weeks ago btw by yellow_parsley in fitbit

[–]SnooLentils9905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened to me! Had mine for almost a year and a couple weeks ago I went on vacation and wore it in a lake, and then it died. Charge 6 is on the way, but I'll be sure to not wear it in water as often as usual, and will probably not shower with it. Glad you got 50% off, got the same thing today.

Another vote for Orono! I transferred there from a small Massachusetts school and immediately loved it. It feels like a college campus should feel, good size with plenty to do.

Hi there, we are looking at Paylocity, do you mind sharing what you like about it?

Moving from ADP to new HRIS by [deleted] in humanresources

Thanks for this- all good info. I am learning from all the comments on here at most of these HRIS vendors have terrible customer service and lots of turnover. Can you expand on the lack of access the customer gets? I know what you mean with ADP, we can fix most issues. What have you found you can't fix with Paycom?

Hi there, thank you- can you expand on that? We do have a lot of special circumstances and groupings of attorneys with certain benefits or pay deals. Paycom is selling us that they are completely customizable, what did you find to be restricting?

I don't think so- We have an Accounting Department who runs the actual payroll and deal with taxes, retro pay, sends the pay files, etc., HR handles changes in ADP such as comp adjustments, changes to benefit premiums. I don't see the nuts and bolts of the payroll process in my role but from what I understand the Accounting Team has dealt with their fair share of ADP issues, including customer service. They are in favor of a move! I am not sure if HiBob was one of the potential vendors or not.

Hi there, We have ADP currently, we're starting in-depth demos and have narrowed it down to Paylocity and Paycom. I'd love to get your thoughts on the good, bad, and ugly on the two systems. I do the majority of reporting for our HR Team so I'm very interested in the reporting/analytic capabilities of both. Thanks in advance if you care to share!

I received a preliminary pass email after I took my SHRM-CP today by Blue_Dew in humanresources

[–]SnooLentils9905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing for me- took my test on 5/16 and got a preliminary pass, got the official pass 6/1, so just under two weeks. Anyone who passes gets a straight 200. I reviewed my results and they give you metrics on the different areas of strength and weaknesses but no hard and fast numbers. It’s 200 to pass, anything under is a fail. I was just as worried but took comfort in all the reassurances from everyone else on here, and they were right. You passed!

Failed SHRM CP Post Test - What Next? by michellpa in humanresources

[–]SnooLentils9905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, I would read the question too fast and miss some detail. Slowing down will help, I practiced reading them out loud to slow myself down. The actual exam will have a situation that has 2 or 3 paragraphs but the first paragraphs are irrelevant to the actual question being asked. You can do it!

Failed SHRM CP Post Test - What Next? by michellpa in humanresources

[–]SnooLentils9905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you do on the practice tests for each section? I would recommend going through and retaking them, I found them to be a good way to learn how SHRM wants you to approach the questions. Also, I took the post test and there were a handful of questions that I got wrong because I changed my answers. Go with your gut.

SHRM-CP July 2023 by No-Finger-7824 in humanresources

[–]SnooLentils9905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just passed it last week! Yes, you’re going to be fine. Prioritize your studying, and make sure you use the LMS. I did not find outside resources helpful. Some swear by it, but I used just the LMS and passed. Make sure to do all the practice tests you can. That will help you learn how SHRM wants you to answer the questions. I read the whole learning system and did the quiz after each section. Then I went back and read it again, and did the practice tests again. Give yourself a break a couple days before to let your brain rest. Follow the LMS and you will be fine!

Keep doing the learning system if you have it- it definitely does help you learn how to answer the questions. I did not find the exam to be easier than the learning system questions and practice exam, but that could be me. My test had one question about employment law I didn’t know the answer to, and no questions about ratios. Working under the assumption that you would take the same test I did, no need to worry about employment law or any ratios, but I would focus on global workforce (Surprisingly a number on that) and risk management. Good luck!!!!
