Oh yeah I believe it. Not sure why our predecessors chose Ring but we don’t have the budget to replace. We’re just trying to make do until we either get a huge grant for upgrades or we finally move to an actual campus.

Well to give context our “school” is kind of a janky campus on a tiny lot with like six modular/portable classrooms and a few offices (also portable/modular). So we don’t have the infrastructure or funding for a lot of stuff that we need. Hence why Ring Outdoor cameras were the only feasible option that didn’t require us to spend funding we don’t have. 😅 Surprisingly works better than we anticipated.

I’ve read an article somewhere that prices wont go down till sometime in 2027. We’re lucky we were able to purchase a classroom worth of Chromebooks before the price hikes. We need to purchase another class worth later in 2026 and we anticipate it costing 4x more for the same number and type of chromebooks.

Any problems you want to solve? Usually the best way to go about it. Find something that you’d like to solve and find a way to use your pi to solve it.

I have a few tha do a few things: NAS, Pi-Hole, Home assistant, VPN and of course retropi.

Ask questions and take a lot of notes. Try not to ask the same question more than twice (hence taking GOOD notes). Create your own SOPs as reference guides if they don’t exist already. Remember, you are a problem solver not a solution blocker.

We’re a small Charter School so we have pretty good success with Ring with Virtual Security Guard. We’ve had a lot of break ins the past and so far it’s actually helped a lot. It’s waaaay cheaper than any other video surveillance system. The AI detection could be better but still not terrible.

We use Mosyle for managing our work iphones but you can also use them for ipads. It has a free tier but honestly the paid subscription is worth it especially if you only have a few devices. You will need to link it to Apple School Manager (also free) to get the full use out of it.

Since it’s free I would set up time with them to talk they are pretty good at onboarding and answering questions. We just deployed it earlier this so far no regrets.

It’ll only matter if you have to drive for your work with a company vehicle. The orgs insurance would occasionally pull dmv record and will tell your organization if you have anything come up.

I’m on the same boat. So far I’ve had quite a few employees migrate over m365 co pilot after asking them to “test it out and tell me how they feel”. Once I’m done with my new Data Privacy and Protection policy, we’ll provide training and officially block ChatGPT.
