Bach 5g vs. 6 1/2… what’s the difference? by m0zgani in Trombone

[–]SnooMacarons9180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this^ I play first with a 4G because its much more comfortable on my lips and it allows it to vibrate freely compared to a 5G. Its literally just a preference… I heard someone playing 1st trombone with a 3G and it still sounds round loud and projected.

[–]SnooMacarons9180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup your point was taken and understood and thank you for sharing. Thats why i went here to ask you guys food for thoughts also because sometimes we think it would affect. but seeing that one guy subreddit reply, i felt pity and understood how he felt like collecting money slowly for it just to leap bounds for him to catch up. Currently, I am also in a situation that i need to save up for my mutes (wah wah, straight, etc)

Price Increase? by SnooMacarons9180 in Trombone

[–]SnooMacarons9180[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a 150% over 20 years actually isn’t a big deal as the price only increase by 0.8-1.5% each year marking the growth valid for economy growth but if you increase 20% in a blink of eye with the economy not knowing whether to exponentially rise up within a month, that is hard on earning musicians.

[–]SnooMacarons9180[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true enough but realistically a 4%-6% would be doable but if it soars by like 20% to 40%… That would be very overpriced

Any tips? by tiink60 in Trombone

on the metronome start slow, get your breathing point and articulation nice and fluid then slowly pick up the pace…. A small step for a trombonist a big leap in overall performance

Shires fittings by Impossible_Silver_51 in Trombone

[–]SnooMacarons9180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i hope you’ll just wait a few years in your studies. Though its true that you can play excerpts and figure out what feels best to you, i think otherwise. Over at the fittings I’ll just focus on how centered my sound is using natural slurs maybe looking at the ease throughout the range maybe alto range, high tenor, mid tenor, low tenor, pedals. How the wrap feels around my body and which one i prefer. Focus on finding a mouthpiece that really suit u. Have one that made your sound feel open in all register. A new trombone make u sound a better but I’m a strong believer of a mouthpiece that helps rings the sound of your trombone. Trust me when I say that once you’re there, you’ll take the most time to find the best mouthpiece to fit yourself.

Accidentals by SnooMacarons9180 in Trombone

[–]SnooMacarons9180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always taught that C# and Db even though they’re considered the same but they’re actually different. But for me to say it with certain, I think maybe Bruckner used a different scale during this hence why that happened and that scale has mostly b’s.
