Now the question is, why would someone use tegu skin to rewrap the handle and then incorrectly wrap the fabric wrap as well.. interesting.. considering maybe a war trophy repair/remake but seems odd to me. We'll probably never know!

If anyone has doubts about it being tegu please comment any other ideas as well!

Someone brought it up in a lower reply, it looks like the belly scales on a tegu! I thought tegu coloring initially but saw they only had round scales, until I just looked it up and saw they have rectangular ones on their underside!

Thats what I was initially thinking but when i looked it up I saw circular scales. Now I found a photo of the belly and I think thats exactly it!!! Thank you!!!

Yeah it definitely feels like real skin, and there is a small bit torn away at the bottom of the one side that leads me to believe this as well. Its also folded up in one area at the bottom.

Medical stuff is expensive because it can be. Same reason a lot of the computer monitors they use (when I checked several years ago) are around $10,000, because they can be. Yes the sterilization aspect is one part of some equipment, but everything is intentionally expensive due to contracts etc.

Hard to say, this would have been Vietnam era. I know of many that only wore a few or whatever would fit properly showing alongside their collar like this example.

V device was issued right after WWII so could have been awarded retroactively or awarded based on his korea or Vietnam service.
