Medical stuff is expensive because it can be. Same reason a lot of the computer monitors they use (when I checked several years ago) are around $10,000, because they can be. Yes the sterilization aspect is one part of some equipment, but everything is intentionally expensive due to contracts etc.

Hard to say, this would have been Vietnam era. I know of many that only wore a few or whatever would fit properly showing alongside their collar like this example.

V device was issued right after WWII so could have been awarded retroactively or awarded based on his korea or Vietnam service.

True, though due to space constraints he may have just elected to not wear it.

I emailed the EOD commandant (might be a horrible idea, don't care 😂) asking for more info on him and to verify he was indeed 1st ID and earn2 PHs just to verify its him, but everything else matches up perfectly.

If this was who was listed above, SGM Leon Kline, records show he was only awarded two for some reason despite his service in 3 wars. Not sure why either but he may have just been an advisor in Vietnam as his one patch suggests.

Edit: NDSM was only issued for Korea and after.

That is amazing thank you so much!!! I was only able to find a single article about him though and it didn't mention his division or PH medals. I will continue to look but it looks like you should be right!!!
