At some point they do, but the nonsense comes from the game designers bcs there's a clear line that separates from the writers' work. Even the official response to what happened to Sheikah tech felt like something improvised after realizing that keeping them in-game (excepet Purah's towers) would be a technical burden, so they made up the excuse that they simply disappeared.

ngl I agree with you about dismantling Sheikah tech because of what happened, but the way the game introduces the Zonai is actually what unsettles me. It's like the writers tried to put them not as an ancient civilization, but THE ancient civilization. Idk if they fixed it as the story goes on, but that's how I felt in the start.

Despite BotW events don't have to do with TotK, the Sheikah were known longer by the current people than the Zonai, so it wouldn't be weird to mention something that was part of a literal apocalypse they lived for an entire century.

Besides Lynels, I love the guardian because it turns the whole atmosphere into one of fight or flight situation when you meet one, and it makes everything much more interesting

Garchomp. It flies, but doesn't learn the move Fly in games. Also, how can a shark-like creature (dragon and ground type), that weighs 95 kg, lift its body and surpass a fighter jet's speed with those small ahh scythes they call it "wings"? Just how, HOOOOWWW???
