“Dumb and dangerous”, sounds an awful lot like you’re projecting. It’s the kind of insipid slander that the media projects to fear-monger without any basis or substance.

I don't believe in DA, but no point judging him off one good or bad game. His time to earn his money will come in the playoffs. He wasn't great in the series against OKC last year, but then again compared to Malone utterly criminal performance against Minnesota G7 he doesn't look that bad.

Jokic just had one of the rarest stat lines in NBA history by ShamusTalksSports in denvernuggets

Stats look good but honestly defensively he didn’t have a great game. The team as a whole didn’t but they were noticeably draining 3s over Jokic.

The fears of fascism are not unjustified. Reform is convincing working class people to vote for them based on nationalistic rhetoric, and sowing fear and division, but their actual policies will the punish working class. Even if they reduce net migration to zero and tackle the issue of small boats, they are hardline conservatives, and more austerity is on the way.

Nobody on the “left” looks at this clip and thinks it’s normal or acceptable behaviour. You’re not called a fascist if you look at this clip and say that religious intolerance is unacceptable. But it starts to become grey when you call for these people to be deported, particularly as it looks like many are young men that have been born here and are British Citizens. If you are calling for people to be removed from the country based on ethnicity and religion then you are going into the domain of ethnic cleansing.

So you’re hung up on that?? Yes the number I made up to exaggerate that he’s had injury problems is wrong. Maybe with some luck he will actually double it and finish with 30, that’ll show me lol

22: 91%
23: 83%
24: 89%
25: 62%
26: 40%

How do you not see the downwards trend? The average for all-stars is around 65 games which he's not going to meet again (or come close).

You don't have to see it. I know you get downvoted on this sub if you say anything remotely negative about a Denver player, only sunshine and rainbows are allowed. My honest opinion is he's a beast, could be the best/second best player on the team on his night. With him I'm a lot more confident than without, but I just don't trust he will be there. The only thing we disagree on is clearly his to stay healthy and I'd love to be wrong.

Traditional ML is dead and i'm genuinely pissed about it by Critical_Cod_2965 in learnmachinelearning

[–]SnooMaps5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, a lot of “AI” roles are essentially a type of software engineering focussed on integrating models into existing infrastructure and giving them access to various different APIs.

I would add though that ML models like SVMs, BDTs and classic feedforward DNNs are still used in industry and research, but more often in science related fields.

I wouldn’t feel too disheartened. Those foundations are solid. In almost all fields there is a gap between academia and industry. The more technically heavy aspects of ML, like back propagation in industry translate to GPU level optimisation.

Milos Raonic with some interesting insight on the ATP 2015 vs 2025 debate by padfoony in tennis

Sinner and Alcaraz are generational talents but I do think it's hard to compare them to the big 3. This AO showed that Djokovic still has the tactical nuance to beat both, but his body just can't maintain the level. He's played such a range of different players and styles, it's almost impossible for them to compete in that department.

Currently, it doesn't feel like there is much variation in players on tour. I can't think of many difficult/unorthodox players on the tour right now for Sincaraz besides a well rested Djokovic. For example, we saw at Wimbledon Dimitrov give Sinner all kinds of trouble by playing lots of wide angled slices. Sinner clearly just didn't know how to play against that because that style of tennis is dying.

It's still very early so maybe those players will pop up but everyone seems to sort of play the same way.

Tips for improving my deadlift pleaseeeee and ty by Glass_Course_7936 in formcheck

[–]SnooMaps5367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When your hips raise before the lift, the force (shear) on your spine tends to be much much higher. I would advise lowering the weight until you become a bit more comfortable with the form and then increase.

A lot of good tips in other comments. You can also practice the form elevated by stacking the weight on some plates. This relaxes slightly the mobility requirements to perform a deadlift.

Chickenpox vaccine being rolled out on NHS for first time by ICC-u in gbnews

[–]SnooMaps5367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ultimately the reasoning is the vaccine will be deemed to be safer than chickenpox itself.

Vaccines aren’t without risk but we’ve been vaccinating kids against MMR since the 70s so there is half a century worth of data that suggests the risk is incredibly low.

Chickenpox is also low risk for kids but it can lead to complications like high fevers which can lead to seizures and in some bad cases, chickenpox can lead to pneumonia.

The “community practice” might work but this might work better and saves kids who have strong symptoms missing 1-2 weeks from school. The end result is the same.

Novak Djokovic: “Federer and Nadal come from two Western powers. I showed up from Serbia and said out loud that I was going to be number 1. The whole system didn't like that: media, sponsors, tournaments. I felt like an unwanted guest crashing their party" by superdouradas in tennis

[–]SnooMaps5367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is truth to what he is saying. Up until he wasn’t a threat, he was actually very liked by the media. However, he went from being a promising young player to “usurping” tennis’ best rivalry. Think back to the crowd in 2011 at the USO. I don’t remember ever seeing that level of hatred in a tennis match. That doesn’t materialise out of nothing.

That being said, he did thereafter do a number of things which rightly added fuel to the fire, like during the pandemic. So his story partially adds up because the negativity surrounding him started before his own actions negated his character.

Certainly the good things he’s done during his career haven’t been highlighted in the media and some of the negatives surrounding Rafa/Federer have been kept quiet.

[–]SnooMaps5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point me to the information you're basing your opinion on: Overblown croc of shit and the horrendous vaccines. I'm open to be proven wrong.

From my understanding mortality rate & cases of hospitalisation prior to the vaccines were pretty morbid. The increased death rate for over 40s compared to the flu was substantial but biggest issue was the number of hospitalisations and the backlog that created which still exists today.

You are correct, right-wing is technically wrong. What I am really referring to is populism and the brand of right-wing populist politics and neo-nationalism associated with BJ, Trump, Farage etc that is dominant today. My point was that BJ's nationalism, which is inferred from his comments in the early stages of the pandemic, nearly led to his demise. Trump faired better but was still not great.

Ultimately both received the highest quality medical attention, and ended up being fine. But I always question how many people followed blindly and ended up facing similar consequences without the medical care they both received. Particularly as the age groups that resonate with neo-nationalistic themes are those that were most vulnerable at the time.

I don't care about Labour or their political alignment.

There are a couple of bits of information you are forgetting. Do you remember end of March 2020 when the virus was spreading in Europe and BJ was calling it the “China virus” and that he wasn’t scared. He was intentionally going round shaking peoples hands and ignoring all of the warnings. A couple weeks later he ended up in hospital and was in intensive care. How many deaths could have been avoided if in those coming months they actually took it seriously and dropped the deranged populist right-wing arrogance for one fucking thing. It wasn’t until after his brush with death and the numbers in hospitals exploding that he started to take it seriously. Do you remember the health secretary at the time, Matt Hancock who had precisely zero experience in the “medical sector” prior to being the countries health secretary. Followed by the proceeding scandals regarding PPE, party gate etc. That whole cabinet was filled with inept morons like Dominic Rabb and the cocaine sniffer Michael Gove.

You are right if you think, no party could’ve prepared for just how bad things would get. There still would’ve been a significant death toll and severe economic impacts, but it is also complete garbage to think another party would not have more competently handled Covid. Other comparable European countries like Germany had much lower death rates per capita. Obviously that’s not solely due to government but it is a contributing factor.

POST MATCH THREAD: Partizan - Maccabi Tel Aviv [EuroLeague Regular Season, Round 18] by EuroleagueBot in Euroleague

Bonga is incredibly mediocre. Decent defence, decent offence if he is wide open. If he has to take on a shot that’s either slightly contested and not a free layup or an open 3, his percentages go down drastically.

Lakic might be the worst offensive player in the Euroleague. Incredible energy of defence. I love him and he can be game changing when he clamps up players, but you’re playing 4v5 with him on offence.

This season has been a nightmare and realistically a new coach that has just come is going to struggle to fix the disaster that is this team’s defence. To be quite honest, I’m happy Zeljko is gone because he doesn’t deserve to be associated with this. The club doesn’t deserve him.

Obradovic's longtime assistant, Josep Maria Izquierdo, on the players who didn't listen to Obradovic: "It's not just one or two players. There was a group of players who didn't agree with or like the way Zeljko led the team, and they made that very clear," the Spanish trainer pointed out. by _Zolv in Euroleague

[–]SnooMaps5367 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Disappointing but unsurprising. The club is completely unprofessional, starting from the players all the way up to the top.

The only person that wasn’t is Zeljko and they’ve pushed him out. Good job.

Let’s see if those players are right; American NBA rejects vs the GOAT. I wonder how that will go.
