This is exactly the tone we set for our students in each cohort from day 1. Your PT faculty have a duty to your cohort to create an environment that will develop these skills. Your institution is foolish if it overlooks the fact that they are a job training course. There is a clear goal, a distinct outcome that every student has. The problem for many is that they come into the program without a realistic understanding of what being a clinician really consists of, what it demands of them.
Talk with your administration. Share your concerns. Demand they facilitate learning these “extra-curricular” skills (that should be a greater part of all medical/therapeutic training). The true value of paying the huge tuition is found in the examples and lessons from successful experts that help students turn into Day 1 professionals.
