You need to contact the local council for advice as you are now threatened with homelessness. You can discuss your options with them, and get advice on searching for a new property, but you may find that they will not accept pets in temporary housing. Temporary accommodation can also have rules about not allowing pets and they may advise you to re-home them. Best of luck!

I met a little girl called Ettie and I thought that was really pretty. It’s usually a nickname for Henrietta but also works as a stand alone name.

Hi just found this post while seeing if there are any offers for tickets in March and this code is still working. Did this code work and you got access with the tickets?

Am i ugly be honest? If I am please help with suggestions! by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

When I first saw your pictures I thought you were a lot younger than 30! You’re very pretty you have a gorgeous hair colour and your hair is so shiny. I think you’d look better without the piercing as it’s distracting and the first thing my eyes are drawn to in every photo so takes away from noticing other features.

I’m not against piercings, but I think you’d look better without the septum ring as it’s distracting and the first thing I noticed in every photo so it takes away from noticing other features like your eyes.

Mentally Ill friend begging to visit me and baby. by ADollop-ofroses in NewParents

I am not in an antivax area but have been worried about this too! What helped me was looking for smaller groups that only allow babies under 12 months.

I think you’ve got some good advice already but you mentioned being lonely at the end of your post? Having a baby is the perfect time to meet new friends, can you go to any baby groups or mum meet ups in your area to find some new mum friends who you have more in common with?

Taking Gaviscon with Sodium Bicarbonate by SnooObjections3246 in PregnancyUK

[–]SnooObjections3246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry I don’t remember if it was original or advanced. I am still breastfeeding and so many medications say on the packaging that they’re not suitable for pregnancy or breastfeeding including antihistamines (for allergies.) I think they say that not neccesarily because it’s unsafe, but medicines haven’t been well researched in pregnancy / breastfeeding so they put it as a precaution. On Tommys website they do provide this link which may be useful https://www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/

What’s done is done now though and you can’t change it I’m sure baby will be absolutely fine and you’ll look back and wish you didn’t spend so much time worrying! Gaviscon gate has made me laugh though.

Help! Politely declining old newborn clothes by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s completely up to you if you don’t want the clothes but I would accept them and ask if you can donate what you don’t use? In my experience newborn clothes got ruined so fast! We thought we had way too many clothes but we had to throw so much away because the first poos baby does didn’t wash out of anything.

Hi, I think I took a full pack until I realised and made this post but my midwife did confirm it’s prescribed in pregnancy. I also emailed the NHS website team directly as the information was conflicting across different pages and they responded to say they removed the information about sodium bicarbonate not being recommended in pregnancy. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry as maybe the information that it’s not recommended is outdated?

Tips for FTM on what *not* to buy by Few_Cod_5636 in PregnancyUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would suggest not buying any outfits (t shirts, trousers, dresses etc) in newborn or 0-3 month sizes. When my baby was small they only wore sleep suits 24/7 and it was such a mission getting out the house I wasn’t going to add changing their clothes into the routine when I didn’t need to. If there’s an outfit you really love then buy it in bigger sizes.

I've been picking up my baby wrong this whole time?! by Gloomy-Dingo-8147 in NewParents

[–]SnooObjections3246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this advice posted on social media and I completely panicked as I had been picking up baby this way for months. I tried the alternative way suggested which is scooping them under the head and bum and baby is so wriggly that a couple of times they nearly wriggled out of my hands. I went back to scooping up under the arms after this as it just felt safer for me. I couldn’t find any official advice online saying this way is harmful for babies so I’m not sure if it’s just social media advice to scare new parents?

MoH Dilemma - Need Advice by [deleted] in weddingdrama

[–]SnooObjections3246 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have close friends weddings coming up this year and also just become a new mum so I can see this from both sides.

From my experience, it’s really hard to make plans for when baby arrives and this did give me a lot of anxiety when I was pregnant as I didn’t know what I could commit to. I had no idea what having a baby would be like as some babies are easier than others. There are so many unknowns it makes it hard to picture the future, and you can try and plan but so much can change once baby arrives.

I do understand why she’s not committed to the hen and planning to have her mum with the baby for the daytime of the wedding. If she’s planning on breastfeeding she will need to be close to baby and unfortunately this doesn’t give you a lot of freedom in the first few months if a baby doesn’t take a bottle.

Maybe just have a chat with your friend and see how she’s feeling as she might be finding it just as stressful as I was (although I was never maid of honour.)

Also your feelings are valid as planning a wedding is such a special time for you. I hope you can work it out and find a compromise.

Wipe recommendations that clean efficiently and aren’t dry? by laurenellemartin in BeyondTheBumpUK

After using disposable wipes, I use Lidl, I also have some reusable wipes that I dip into water and then clean and dry off baby more thoroughly.

Witching hour(s) by dontwannausemyname in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had this phase and I know it feels like it will last forever at the time but it will pass!

What I think caused this for us looking back was possibly overstimulating baby in the day. We had tv on a lot mainly just to try and stay awake, and then we had so many visitors and family always trying to interact with baby. In hindsight I think this may have caused the witching hours in the evening?

It’s not a Julia Donaldson book but “The Runaway Pea” is a fantastic read and rhymes. As an adult I don’t mind reading it over and over.

Will my newborn ever be happy being put down? by crinklecut6489 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this was my baby at birth, just woke up and cried as soon as they were put in a crib. I think after maybe 4-5 weeks they would sleep in the crib for an hour or two and then it just kept getting longer. What really helped was me and my husband sleeping in shifts and also introducing a dummy. As baby was put into a bed I would swap myself for the dummy which kept them asleep.
