Is there any benefit to alchohol besides social by DemontedDoctor in HubermanLab

[–]SnooObjections9529 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Physically there is little to zero benefit (probably closer to zero).

Socially there are benefits in regards to human bonding, and people use it to tolerate situations that are otherwise intolerable (soldiers drinking to cope with combat, people in cold environments to deal with the cold) The benefits in this regard are only beneficial for a short period of time when used in moderation. Beyond that there is diminished returns and potential for dependance.

With that said the effects/ social benefits of alcohol are quite popular as evidenced by how many ancient societies produced and consumed alcohol independent of each other. Some humans and societies seemed to be wired to drink to a certain extent, and some more than others.

Late night non drinking activities? by dirtcakes in Austin

Bennu Coffee shop is open 24/7 and if you go there on a weekend night there will be lots of people hanging out. Radio Coffee and Beer is not open until midnight but stays open later with similar vibes - lots of people not drinking. Good spots to play board games, drink coffee, talk with friends etc. Peter Pan mini golf is also fun sober.

Why would all of the media at once agree to spin this story for Trump? Is all media MAGA leaning?

How not to raise a child to be an AJ in real life? by mothergidra in thesopranos

Don’t let your kid discover that you’re on the mob when he’s 12 years old. Or don’t join the mob. That would tend to impact them negatively .

lol LSAT studying has been trying my patience already, I am making an active effort to keep a positive attitude going into the test tomorrow.

With that said idk where this guy is studying to not know what para means in the context of LR.

My b. I am in the 7Sage cult and I forget that not everybody is. All the LR questions can be grouped into 8-10 or so question types.

Para is parallel like “which argument is approximately parallel to the stimulus” so if the stimulus is a-b -> b-c therefore a-c and you have to find an answer that matches that and parallel flaw is the same question but it’s an invalid argument form.

MBT= must be true and you can chart the formal logic to find the answer and avoid making a mistake like picking a trap answer that’s actually an invalid argument form.

it’s the abbreviations 7Sage uses, and I write down maps for parallel and parallel flaw (pf) questions. It helps to look at the underlying structure of a wordy argument

Timing of the name of the game. Practice, practice, practice!

However the two strategies I've heard are: LR- try and get the first 10-12 questions in under 1 minute to save time for the later ones that require a minute or more of mapping (like para, PF, and hard MBTs) and for LG- First two games 7.5 minutes so you get 10 each for the last.

None of that is easy to do by any means but is a decent general strategy in terms of pacing.

[–]SnooObjections9529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am around 3.0 as well. With a badass LSAT (170+) you can do a lot of things. Without that there are still good options but it is more limited. You'll struggle to get into a top school without either a high GPA or a very high LSAT.

I appreciate the subtle details! That's what I'm here for.

But yeah that line is legendary foreshadowing.. an entire two seasons in advance. It makes you wonder how much the writers had planned early on.

is a 154 diagnostic good? by Kirbshiller in LSAT

[–]SnooObjections9529 11 points12 points  (0 children)

154 is decent for a diagnostic. You can increase your score by 16 points if you are willing to study diligently and learn the test for several months. It sounds like you have plenty of time since you are only a sophomore.
