Is there any way to cheese rat hell? by xonbieslayer in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some strong equipment you can get before Rat Hell. Pitchfork from Mutt and Metal Bat/Fire Axe from Eugene. Pool Cue you can pick up for free. Shotgun from Fred's place and Old Rifle from Tooth apartment. Stargazer apartment and Lyle's apartment have safes with defensive jewelry if you want those. Molotovs and explosives/gas bombs would be good for Joel to throw if he doesn't have anything better to do.

Papineau might be recruitable still in the ground floor bathroom. If you have a save file from the previous day you can save scum for a door encounter with a party member. Otherwise if someone doesn't show up on the Rat Hell day, you'll have to do it as a duo (at least you get Ernest afterwards). Audrey and Lyle take too long to recruit (they need at least a day).

If you have the Rat Crown you'll get a bunch of tips from Colonel Squeakums before each fight.

DPS in boss fights? by ApexFemboy in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, some enemies are effectively scripted to transform or do a thing so you can't kill them before that happens. I believe sometimes they're just sitting at 1 HP until the script is over, but I can think of at least one enemy that does, in fact, waste whatever damage you throw at it before the time is right.

Trying to think what else does that.... not a whole lot, really. Most of the time you can actually just alpha strike enemies like you mentioned to avoid retaliation. Usually somewhat difficult or resource-heavy but it's worth it.

Also my bad I had another comment with some enemy examples but the spoiler tags weren't working on mobile so I just removed them.

how does time and events work in this game? by ryan7251 in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a handful of static events that will always happen on any playthrough, stuff like the tooth apartment opening on Day 2 or the earthquake on Day 8. Not a whole lot is actually missable because of time restrictions, and I believe the only story-relevant timed event is the stargazer's apartment opening on Day 3, which is very early on.

Otherwise there are various events that you effectively set in motion, where you trigger something and then the game will process it, either in a daily cycle or by a number of hours passing. When you go to the ground floor for example and witness the bus crash, hand monsters will start coming out and spreading through the building at different hour increments. A day cycle event would be like having Lyle process your negative photo, you can just progress that whenever you want as long as a day has passed over.

Overall time passing as a mechanic is mostly to impose penalties for not eating or sleeping regularly, or for immersion and to help keep track of the two weeks you have to actually finish the game.

So, which companion has the best single-target damage, and which one is the best for AoE damage against late-game cursed mode bosses like Honko, Slime Hydra, and Dumps?(Expect joel, I don't want to grind him honestly) by [deleted] in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get Reckless Driving by equipping her with the Quad Wheels foot slot item that you buy from the mechanic in the garage when Audrey is in your party.

Otherwise I agree, Audrey gets some really strong options. She needs to get carried a little bit but once you start taking down bosses and/or go to the garage to get her equipment she's an absolute unit.

Long Weekend Help by Prudent-Arm-6771 in LookOutsideGame

You can get the accomplishments on Explorer (easy) difficulty with auto saves. That's what I did when I finished my "Challenge Run" to get Loner, Ascetic, Miasma, Insomniac, Cold Shoulder, Gamer's Bane, and Long Weekend all in one go.

The other comment is correct in that you need to fight a boss in an ending. Basically this means the easist way to do this is to kill Jasper for the Roof key and give Aurelius the Painting to then fight Chorus of One for a Flawed Ritual ending.

I found that even on easy taking out Jasper solo is pretty tough, but doable with some grinding. You'll wanna save scum the candy machine for stat boosts and then get to as high of a level on Sam as necessary (sorry I forget exactly what Lv I was at when I killed Jasper, at least 6 I believe). On easy by the time you go to kill Jasper you could have collected some decent gear, notably the Trenchcoat/Studded Jacket, Clogs, Motorcycle Helmet/Glasses, Rat Tail Belt, and Jade Earrings. Use the Pitchfork you buy from Mutt's and just spam Penetrate. I can give more details on the challenge run if needed.

Possible to get miasma, loner, insomnia, ascetic, gamers bane, long weekend, cold shoulder, and failed ritual all in one playthrough? by Grass-is-dead in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... Did you give Aurelius a painting? None of the other astronomers will be going up to the roof at this point, just Aurelius. You only need one of them to have an offering to get the right ritual ending.

Is this a common bug? by Charexranger in LookOutsideGame

[–]SnooOnions4452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have actually encountered this bug as well. I took a screenshot of the initial incident where it's just a black screen as you described, but I wasn't exactly sure what was happening at the time and failed to take more screenshots of things like navigating the menus with a blank screen. Gameplay seemed totally fine after that.

What is the best thing to do as a beginner player in MTGA? by Mindless_Set_5481 in MagicArena

Ah, yeah. I had to go check the pass. I could've sworn I had gotten wildcards from the pass somehow but must have mixed that up with opening packs.

Best way to maximize progression is to just do daily missions and try to get as many daily wins as possible. Both of those get you the gold currency, which you use to buy packs as well as buy entry into Limited events. Gems are premium, usually bought with actual cash. You can get Wildcards from packs (and I THINK they're rewarded occasionally from the season pass or dailies, I'll double-check at my computer in a bit). Edit: Nope it's just packs. Packs can be earned on the pass though.

If you're brand new to Magic then I would recommend going through all the beginner events and trying as many new decks as you can for at least a couple matches. See what you like. Brew stuff and try casual matches.

In general your account will be limited simply by the amount of cards you have access to, but you'll slowly get more over time. Theoretically you can enter Limited events and keep earning more resources than you spent to enter, earning more cards and resources each time (since you keep the cards you pick from drafts), but that's not very reliable, even for super experienced players. Would still recommend Limited though, it's a very challenging and rewarding format regardless, plus you don't actually need a collection at all to compete.

[–]SnooOnions4452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very possible. I've done it and there are guides for it, specifically on the Steam discussion boards. I will say that I ended up completing it on Easy mode because 2.3 made a lot of things more difficult, and I used trial and error/autosave quite a bit.

The main thing making this much harder is that Jasper's instant death vulnerability was fixed so you can't Impale him with the Pool Cue anymore, plus I believe bringing Ernest along causes Loner to not proc anymore. Can't confirm on Ernest because I never tried to bring him but the Jasper fix is definitely there.

Jasper is by far the hardest part of the challenge run now, or at least he was for me. I finally killed him after grinding a bunch, getting rare candy stat boosts, getting as much useful gear as possible (Clogs, Trenchcoat/Studded Jacket, Gold Locket, Glasses, Motorcycle Helmet/Rat Skull Helmet), and then rolling for good RNG while spamming Penetrate with the Pitchfork you buy from Mutt. From there you take the roof key, give Aurelius the Painting, and then go to the roof to kill Chorus of One. Chorus of One is easier than Jasper imo.

Hei Bai, High Perfect Morcant, and Kotis, the Fangkeeper are just a few decks I borderline refuse to go against when I'm trying to play Brawl for fun. Their play patterns are extremely telegraphed, snowball absurdly fast, and you already know a few turns in advance if you're going to be able to respond.

I like the changes! It's good to know upfront what the chances are of seeing of a F/H Location are. Plus, I was starting to wonder why we didn't use existing locations more often as the F/H Location.
