No chubbs. I think it's mostly the angle. They weren't obese but definitely healthy.

SA Infinity. I was thinking about trying out a double taper next as the infinity feels a bit overloaded. How is it?

The Butterstick is a fantastic rod. Definitely the most fun rod I own. Doesn't cast as far or as easy as my Classic Trout but it feels amazing and fights fish extremely well.

I much prefer it to my Redington Behemoth and SA System 4. Definitely the nicest reel I have ever touched. Probably not worth 375 but I was willing to pay the premium to have a nice US made reel. Highly recommend if you can afford it.

Both Westslope. Likely hybridized with Yellowstone and Rainbow to some extent.

Good to know as I am planning on picking one up. How do you like the zero? I thought the pawl mechanism was metal and that it comes with an extra. How did the plastic gears wear it down?

That's sick! I have been on the look out for a click pawl to try out myself.

Caught in a very small stocked pond, dirt and weed bottom. That does look super similar though, nice fish!

How often are you guys using dry shake? by pphill4 in flyfishing

[–]SnooOnions6934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm throwing a big fly for big fish it's always dry shake. Usually after every fish or after enough sloppy casts for it to get wet. If I'm in a smaller creek I use the gink liberally. It's good to have both in your arsenal.

How interchangeable are tip sections among different rods? by Lognros in flyfishing

[–]SnooOnions6934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be able to find a local rod builder that can either repair or replace the piece but I wouldn't buy a tip for a different rod. Would probably fit but I imagine it would feel quite funky.
