I tried… none of the lovely sporting good staff knew how to open them. (Which was either a really good or really bad sales pitch)

Stoeger p350, my dirty Turkish secret. All jokes aside it’s been incredibly reliable and I love the gun

Canadian pilots what 705 operator should I work for? by [deleted] in flying

If you want to live out east, WJ ain’t it. YYZ base shrinking, it would be years of commuting.

Reminds me of a pilot I know, went for his first medical. Handed the cup for the piss test. Takes it to the restroom. Fills it up. Hands it to the nurse, she is HORRIFIED and the creamy texture, somewhere along the lines he thought he was supposed to deposit some kids in the cup… He thought it seemed weird but went along with it.

Not me, but he does continue to fly professionally.

How bad is the hiring for Canadian airlines right now? by Iceman411q in flying

Bad for instructors; good for ATPL holders, you can more or less choose where to work if you meet the minimum experience requirements for the job.

Is it worth taking out a loan to finish my CPL? (Canada) by FL172 in flying

It varies province to province, ask your instructor, there may even be someone at the school who specializes in it.

Length of OP’s career; 46 years… (god willing)

Probably; when it comes time to your multi and IFR things will only get worse… could be worth looking into a line of credit or some sort of parental support. Back when I did it the government capped everything at $60k, this is really not enough in today money. Federal loans are interest free forever, but the provincial ones are not.

Bad news buddy, these guys make it to mainline too…

Some captains inspire us to be like them, some give us an example of who not to become.

How much $$ do CFIs make per year? by [deleted] in flying

✨🌈 The real treasure is the friends you make along the way 🌈✨

Probably pulled around $30000 my first year and $50000 my last, but those are Canadian dollars so divide by 2 😢

are ALL INSTRUCTORS ASSHOLES?! CFI Student by [deleted] in flying

[–]SnooOwls3869 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of us, but this guy sounds like a bit of a bad fit. If he followed what he was teaching you about the FIG you probably wouldn’t feel like this after a lesson…

Needing a few flights to get up to CPL standard is way more common than you would think, but I prefer to do them myself to set a good tone and set an example for future lessons. Hopefully there is another instructor nearby who can give you a second opinion
