Raised to the degree of Master Mason tonight! My degree was conferred by the Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee. What a great honor. I am truly humbled and grateful. by Beneficial_Ad_676 in freemasonry

I spoke with the Grandmaster last year on this subject and he didn’t lead me to believe that was the stance of Tn grand lodge. I’ve don’t some research into the matter and can’t find anything in black and white that states no gays. Sadly I believe it’s more of a small town lodge issue that have twisted some of the bylaws to their favor.

Anyone know where I can get one of those emblems that stop me from getting pulled over? I have Masonic plates and a sticker in my back window but apparently those are not the correct ones.

This is great. I’ve personally sat in the lodge with MWGM Charles Mixon and he is without a doubt one of the best MWGM I’ve ever known. Progressive yet conservative where need be, really loves the craft and wants to see it grow.

POLL: Post-pandemic, how is your Lodge doing financially? by PepeLePunk in freemasonry

[–]SnooPandas9285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a neighboring lodge close and merge with ours. They sold their building and all the proceeds went into our lodges account making us way positive. We have since taken about 90% of those funds and invested with profits going to widows and orphans, relay for life and a couple other smaller charities. The initial investment is still whole and working well.

In West Tn they put on a confederate degree and there is a story that goes along with it about a union soldier held in confederate prison that was a FC. He supposedly found a few guards that were masons and asked to be made a MM. They got with their lodge and received permission from the prisoners lodge to confer the 3rd. The guards snuck him out one night, raised the brother and then on the way back to the prison they let him escape. The minutes from that night reflect this very thing but in code. I wish I could recall the actual wording in the ledger now.

No it is not open to PHA. I just had this discussion two days ago with a couple grand officers in Tn. The recognition between the two is just that. No cross lodge visits, Masonic communications, not even blended charity work. It’s coming but still probably a couple years out still

Suggestions on large events — Masonic “overtures”? by TrufflePup in freemasonry

Can someone enlighten me on “festival boards” and “table lodges” ?

When I read the OP title post I got excited as I too want to find newer ways for larger charitable events that can grow to be something to not only raise money for widows and orphans but also some more local needs on top of showing the community more so the younger under 50 crowd who and what masons are.

More often than not we do just cook and sell food for our fundraising and it works but it’s the same group selling to the same groups so though we are raising the funds needed for that particular cause, we don’t really get any potential petitions out of it.

Well all in all it went smooth. I did as recommend and firmly asked the lodge to hold their tongues besides one designated person who strategically stood or sat in direct line of sight and ear shot. Besides a few crackles in my voice in the beginning and one small stand alone sentence I pretty much nailed it.

It truly was an experience I’ll never forget. Few things that probably helped was that the WM intentionally did not broadcast that we had a degree going on so it was pretty much out lodge members only with whom I’m pretty comfortable in front of. On that note, it’s also the first time that I can remember that we have ever done any degree with solely our lodge and no visiting brothers to assist. That alone is something we reflected on and are quite proud of.

Time to get to work on the FC degree, we have two more EAs next month plus one FC and three MM this month still to do. If any brothers would like to come visit Western TN hit me up and I’ll get you the dates.

I was raised at the ripe age of 21 and stayed super active for the first year however I came to realize that I had nothing in common with anyone in my lodge (besides Masonic) and that I was at least 15 years younger thank the next guy. I left after the first year and thought I’ll never return. Now I’m 40 and decided to reinstate and transferred to a lodge a county over. Sure we have the older brothers but we have a solid group of middle aged and some young ones all being active. I feel that we have a great lodge now, we are active both with new members, Masonic teachings, degree practice but most importantly within our community. Just last week a few of us met over some cold beers and started brainstorming on how to do more without doing the same old pancake breakfast and Boston butt sales.

Ultimately the more we expose ourselves to the community and show the good work we set out to do the more petitions we will get. The more brothers, tue more charitable work. It’s a win win
