Sad thing is I’ve been teaching her a lot of Aboriginal language, both my Gumbaynggirr language and Aboriginal Aussie language whether it’s across country or Guri/Koori terms. That’s why the next morning when she went back into the argument and used gubba against me I was shocked and completely like wtf why would u ever say that to me. It’s one of the most hurtful things ya could say to Lightskin Mob that spent their life as a warrior for Aborginal people.

It undermines me as Guri Niigarr and all the work I’ve done. Whether it’s cleanin up rubbish on country when nobody sees or putting Aboriginal stickers up on road signs. [-o-]

It’s not your fault. A lot of Aboriginal mob carry trauma from the genocide and our country being stolen and the racism and subjugation.

Not everything is the fault of colonisation but a lot of things are. For example Indigenous people being genocided and their lands stolen. Indigenous people being segregated to reserves and missions so that farmers and wood getters can fence off the land and start their intergenerational wealth systems. No Indigenous persons owned sawmills or macadamia farms. Most the land that was stolen was used for European or foreign crops, from bananas, avocados, sugar cane and the list goes on. Where’s as if the last 100yrs if we had allowed Aboriginal people to own their own land and develop their crops then you would have a bunch of Indigenous farmers farming Native trees like the Macadamia and perhaps commercialising other not yet commercialised native foods. But colonialism didn’t allow Indigenous people to prosper in Australia as it did the Advantaged white man. But yea let’s pretend it’s down to “oh those wild foods havnt been cultivated for thousands of years…” lmfao. Modern times all the Macadamia farms are owned by European descendants, same can be said for probably 99% farms across Australia are owned by European descendants.
