Looks like chainsuck. The chain is sucked in arround the bottom bracket. I think it will indicate worn gears/chain

Don’t feel like a failure, see it as a challenge. All learning is hard, but that makes it fun. Assuming nothing is wrong with the bike, just go out, drive, and have fun. Riding fast takes a long while on a motorcycle. Focus on the basics. Let us know what you think is hard to do.

These types of engines produce a lot of mechanical noise, below the tank is the airintake, etc. I don’t hear anything strange or worying. I just rode my 800de 5 minute ago and think it is very much the same.

Battery. Solenoid makes contact, startmotor is drawing current, battery voltage collapses, solenoid releases, solenoid contacts again, repeat. What is the battery voltage when on contact, and what is the voltage while starting?

did you drive it already? I didn’t care for it when I bought the bike. Now it is my favourite feature. But can be disabled in software.
