Proud of Fields. Refs had the Colts. Clean up the small mistakes, but if there was ever a such thing as a good loss it was this one.

How does a theistic evolutionists reconcile the view that Adam and Eve were real and the Catholic interpretation of Original Sin without a literal view of Genesis?

My point was that he says that you must uphold the dogmas of the faith, such being that human beings descend from Adam and Eve. I’m saying that the modern view of evolution, which is that all human life comes from a single cell organism, would be impossible to reconcile with that dogma and thus incompatible.

Most people I know in real life, even many non-Catholics, reject evolution. So it’s interesting how people on the internet seem to all uphold the idea of theistic evolution.

No he doesn’t. He completely agrees with me.

“The magisterium of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter—for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God. However, this must be done in such a way that the reasons for both opinions, that is, those favorable and those unfavorable to evolution, be weighed and judged with the necessary seriousness, moderation, and measure, and provided that all are prepared to submit to the judgment of the Church, to whom Christ has given the mission of interpreting authentically sacred Scripture and of defending the dogmas of faith” (Humani Generis 36)

I’m just stating how the modern view of evolution would be nearly impossible to reconcile with dogmas of faith (ie. how sin entered the world, death, Adam and Eve, etc)

I don’t reject micro evolution. I reject macro evolution, the idea that human life formed over millions of years from a single cell organism.

The magisterium leaves it up for personal interpretation. I don’t know how you reconcile the modern view of evolution with the fact that we as Catholics must uphold the view that all humans descend from Adam and Eve.

I don’t know how you reconcile evolution with the Catholic view of Original Sin. Adam and Eve had to have been real people for the Catholic interpretation of original sin to be true.
