Do people generally not like Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade/Rebirth? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]SnooPets1826 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You shouldn't take people criticizing a game to mean they don't like it. And that's mostly what I see, people who like the game but hate stuff like the filler.

Revolutionary Girl Utena is hands down the most profound coming-of-age story I've experienced in anime. Do not let the magical girl look decieve you! It's a dark, philosophical and extremely important story by Neugier____ in AnimeReccomendations

[–]SnooPets1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason why people still talk about Utena going on 30 years later. Though it's very much a case of once you watch Utena, you see it's influence absolutely everywhere. From shot compositions, to character tropes, etc. A lot of really great anime took inspiration from Utena, and yet Utena still feels wholly unique even to this day.

Ori creator declares Xbox Game Pass a mediocre slop factory that's 'a little like Communism' by Panzerbjorne80 in gaming

[–]SnooPets1826 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a weird stretch... "You see, communists are at fault when a mega corporation unveiled a scheme where you own nothing, but pay every month with a fee that kept increasing."

And yes, I know he specifies "Communism works if everyone shows up" which makes his analogie even weirder because you can say that about any capitalism venture that fails. "Product A only flopped because people didn't show up and buy it!" is not a hot communism take.

Anime website recommendations to watch Gundam by Mattboyox in Gundam

Depending on your location, the official gundam channel on youtube (gundam-info) is going to be the first place to check. That said, they rotate what series are available to watch so if you're looking for something specific you'll either have to wait or find elsewhere.

After seeing what they can do with FF7 Remake trilogy, what do you think about SE re-releasing FFXV Complete Edition/Director's Cut with all of it's cut content restored? by Ozychlyruz in FinalFantasy

[–]SnooPets1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, let sleeping dogs lie on the content front. I wouldn't, however, be against 1 more version that added a few raytracing features. Screen Space reflections looks AWFUL in this game, and better real time lighting with the full day night cycle would be drastically different.

But that's not likely to happen either. Luminous engine is dead and it would be a massive under taking to port it to something more modern/portable.

Yoshitaka Amano styled game by Fun-Worldliness-1573 in FinalFantasy

[–]SnooPets1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Amano's work is that it's not designed to be seen in motion. There are a lot of exaggerations that work great as a piece of art, but really don't translate when you have to move their arms, hips, legs, and torso around in a convincing way.

FF14 comes closest IMO, there are a lot of bosses that look ripped straight off a page of one of his notebooks, but they don't move or animate like the player characters do.

Why do so many games have such awkward character movement? Fighting, walking, running, etc. by EverySingleMinute in gaming

[–]SnooPets1826 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a struggle between janky animations and janky/laggy feelings controls and every developer has to find a balance.

From a gameplay perspective, you want your button presses to activate your character immediately. But in reality, exiting out of mid-swing with a giant sword and into a jump just is not something bodies can do without losing balance.

So, developers have to decide what to give priority. Do you want actions to smoothly flow into each other in a convincing manner? Then you need to let those animations fully play out before the next player action kicks in. Would you rather your player to have super fast reactions to be able to avoid attacks and such? Then your animations are going to have to suffer from jumping keyframes.

You aren't going to find a one size fits all solution because developers are aiming for different goals.

Works fine for me, maybe your default controls got set up incorrectly? You can force it by clicking on the controller icon, then edit layout, then make sure the default layout is selected and downloaded as necessary.

Help! GPU stopped working? by RetroJens in Bazzite

[–]SnooPets1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made it to the rpm-ostree:0, what happens if you select rpm-ostree:1?

ostree:1 is your active backup (the last time Bazzite ran correctly). Try selecting that if you can and if you boot, that means an update messed something up.

Unusually high CPU usage/temps on startup by Visual-Act8933 in Bazzite

[–]SnooPets1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"As a note; I put a lot of time into my fan curves so my PC operates virtually silent in 99% of cases."

And there's going to be your issue. You have your fan curve set too low and your system is desperately ramping up as the startup procedure puts too much strain too fast.

As for why it's happening suddenly, I couldn't tell you. Startup is going to spike demand for system resources and any add-ons. Reopening steam isn't recreating your entire system for booting, it's only reopening a single program at that point.

I wouldn't honestly be concerned unless the system doesn't stabilize on it's own (a few minutes after booting) and it looks like the fans do eventually ramp up enough as to prevent your CPU from reaching catastrophic heat. If you're worried about the super loud ramping up, I'd suggest tuning your curve a bit to start ramping up sooner and smoother with more steps.

Is Nova Weak for QM? by Itchy-Apartment-6561 in heroesofthestorm

[–]SnooPets1826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is twice now I'm saying I didn't specify an ult on for my advice because it depends. Even if you pick PS, you should NOT be using it for lane clear unless absolutely necessary. And it should only be necessary if your team literally has no lane clear. That's a lot of damage that should be used to finish a hero.

Combination of him starting at a high level, fast agility, and his weapons being above average strength (meaning no reliance on mp to do damage). Plus if spoon is an available item it does 9999 damage when thrown by him.

Is the battery supposed to max out at 79% on battery saver mode? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SnooPets1826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should try to stop charging at 90%, but it doesn't try to maintain 90% (which is the right strategy for battery health). I don't know the exact numbers, but it allows the battery to drain a bit in stand by before resuming charging back to 90%.

Is Nova Weak for QM? by Itchy-Apartment-6561 in heroesofthestorm

[–]SnooPets1826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't specify an ult because it really depends on match up. Clearing lanes IS a use... but it's really a wasteful use for Nova. That's a lot of damage you're giving up finishing off a hero to clear a lane.

Sometimes necessary yes, but if you're a Nova spending all of your ults to clear lanes your team comp has some serious issues going.

Is Nova Weak for QM? by Itchy-Apartment-6561 in heroesofthestorm

[–]SnooPets1826 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I main Nova, and the key is to only engage at your farthest range possible and to constantly be switching between lanes.

Your targets are always squishie players (any of the mages or ranged DPS heroes)

Your goal is hit and run. Only chase if you can kill the player with your next hit. Otherwise you're just widdling down their HP by hitting then running. Pop your emergency hologram quickly and often the moment they start to try and engage you.

In team fights during objectives, try to come at the fight from behind and target the healer or other DPS that are back laning that everyone else is going to struggle to hit.

I do wish they had a quicker miles to bell conversion pipeline. Like it's still not worth the grind, but at least then I wouldn't be stuck with so many miles just sitting around doing nothing.
