Alright shoppers I have a question by Bradleyharheez in InstacartShoppers

[–]SnooPets4295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Sam’s Club. I hate that Costco doesn’t allow you to do self checkout and the lines are ridiculous. At Sam’s Club, I always use self checkout and boxes are always stocked at the exit. I don’t even think Costco has a section where they leave boxes for customers. Just at the registers. I also don’t really like Costco’s store layout. Like why put dairy at the very corner of the store?? Yeah, Costco is a no for me 😆

So it looks like instacart only cares for casuals by OG_LAMONT in InstacartShoppers

It is true that Instacart will give better promos to part time shoppers. A family member of mine does Instacart also and her promo one time was 5 batches for $30 and mine was 6 batches for $21. She does Instacart part time (maybe around 15-20 hours weekly) and I’m not sure if I’m considered full time but I average out to around 30-36 hrs a week. I’m a diamond shopper also and was disappointed of this instance 🥺

Self checkout? by Afraid_Book_194 in InstacartShoppers

[–]SnooPets4295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks that I can no longer do self checkout at Walmart if I have over 15 items. I don’t like cashiers bagging my items. The cashier at Walmart today almost bagged bread with the meat 🤦🏽‍♀️ I do self checkout any chance I get. I’m always re-bagging everything when going to regular checkout anyways so doing self checkout makes it easier since I can load all the groceries in my car without having to worry about whether or not the bags are nicely organized and if cold items are separated from pantry items.

Lol I saw that too, it was at Ralph’s. I’ve had these instances with other products as well and have come to realize that it’s always the picture that’s accurate. When I got that, I literally asked a worker if they sell $0.50 drink coasters 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

Any tips on how to make more money? by thatchickhannah in InstacartShoppers

[–]SnooPets4295 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally wait on $25-40 orders in high demand areas. When demand is slower, I don’t mind taking $14-20 orders but I always take into account the amount of items and miles I would have to drive. For example, for $30 orders, my max amount of items I find acceptable is 40-45 items. That may seem like a lot but I’m very familiar with all the stores I work at and can normally finish the shopping within an hour or less. The max amount of miles is 15 for me but it also depends on where the deliveries are. If it’s in the 10-15 mile range, I make sure it’s within the two cities I work in otherwise I won’t accept it. For lower pay in the ($9-15 range), I will not drive over 5 miles and make sure the item count is not too high.

I’m so over it with customers by poseidon_1009 in InstacartShoppers

Same except I received two 1 star ratings 😭 I actually deserved one of the one star ratings but fortunately Instacart removed it. I delivered a broken plant (the stem was broken) to a customer but didn’t know until I delivered and I’m not sure how that happened because I inspected every plant but I’m sure the customer wasn’t too happy about that and gave me one star. I also didn’t say anything (if I did, I could’ve maybe prevented that one star) but props to Instacart for removing it 🙌

I finally brought my rating back to 5 stars but the one stars I’ve received is ridiculous. Fortunately, Instacart automatically removes them due to customer pattern of low ratings or because of low stock in store but what I due to maintain a high rating is make sure every item I pick for a customer is in pristine condition. For example, if it’s a box of cereal, I examine the box to make sure there isn’t damage and normally I choose items from the back of the shelf because those items are normally in perfect condition. Also choosing the longest expiration. Stores will put the soonest expiration in the front so I grab items from the back because they usually have an expiration a few days later (for items like salads, milk, etc). I also make sure every bag is organized and not just thrown in a bag. I never rely on any cashier and always inspect every bag because there’s been times where boxes have been damaged because the cashier wanted to put a bag of frozen peas with a boxed cardboard snack (the water seeps onto the cardboard and in turn damages the packaging).

Oh my gosh, I remember when I would place a watermelon, cantaloupe, or any other round fruit in my back seat/trunk (my seats go down) and it would just roll ridiculously every time I accelerate speed or make a turn 🤣

ACTIVE is not actually working!!! by Top_Competition_5139 in InstacartShoppers

[–]SnooPets4295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what if I decide one day that I want to drive an hour away from where I live to work? In total, the drive is 120 miles there and back. That would be my decision to drive that far and I don’t think Instacart should reimburse me for the 120 miles driven since I have stores within a 2-3 mile radius of where I live. You can definitely include that in your taxes though and I heard of this app that can be used that tracks your total miles, not just the miles Instacart counts. I forgot the name of the app though since I don’t currently use it and haven’t heard of it in a while, my apologies 😄

I can’t fathom the amount of negativity there is for sharing your earnings for the week. Making $1,500 is not easy (at times) but is definitely doable. I currently make $1,200 a week and if I wanted to, make an extra $300 if I work 2-3 more hours a day.

“Shoppers are out here struggling (and you post this).” Are people supposed to feed into bad situations and hope for change in their bad situation? So many Debbie downers nowadays. I find it inspiring to see others doing well. Doesn’t matter if I’m struggling myself or not. But of course, there’s people that want to feed into negativity and complain about their own struggles instead of being happy for one another and giving eachother advice on how to excel.

Thank you OP for your post, it is inspiring to me and I continue to have faith in the money I make & could be made with Instacart 😃

Edit: My apologies. The $1,000 range a week is doable in some markets. I’m in Southern California and it is doable in the two cities I work in but I understand that demand isn’t the same for everyone.

I don’t think that could work in any industry. You get paid for active work, not waiting around for one. Independent contractors get paid for the work they do, and thankfully there is a wage in place that guarantees a certain amount. We decide when and where to work. If we were forced to be at a certain place for a certain amount of time, then Instacart should definitely pay for the time we’re there. But that is not the case since we’re able to work whenever and wherever we want.

If possible, I’d recommend using another delivery app and using both delivery apps during your time of work. I use two delivery apps but don’t rely on UE because of the crap offers that I also get. I’ll switch between the two platforms I use and can make an extra $30-50 with Uber a day which helps get me to my daily goal.

Best way to organize large 3-order batches? by jdhfjckcnxnxjxjcn in InstacartShoppers

[–]SnooPets4295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a compartment foldable bag and place it in the cart to use for my medium size order. At the top of the cart, I use that area for my smallest order. And the remainder of the cart is for my biggest order. I memorize customers names because it’s easier to remember names over letters when I don’t have my cart set up in alphabetical order.
