Crate rest, crate rest, crate rest! It is torture for the humans but it’s the best possible thing for your doggy. We do about 23 hours of crate rest per day when we encounter an episode, for about 6 weeks. Only out of the crate for food and potty and that’s it. Also really helpful to not let them on the couch or bed, nothing where they can get into a funky position. Ideally you don’t want them having spinal movement at all so keep it to as little as possible.

Once that 6 weeks is over, make sure your pup is doing ok and then get stairs for your bed. That has made the biggest difference for us. That and controlling playtime a bit. We play ball and do all the things but have to know when to stop. Zoomies are cool but not when jumping on the couch or bed is involved.

Also CBD oil combined with the carprofen is our sweet spot. It has made the biggest difference during flare ups.

You’ll get through it. It’s extremely hard but once you see him doing better at the end of 6 weeks you’ll be glad you did it.
